This is surprising. Does he have some type of connection with the "U" I thought for sure he would stay in the NFL

Yes, we were in the national title discussion at our last game of the season and the highest ranked 1 loss team in the nation.

I like what senior, Ryan Hill said. "You can bring Jesus Christ in here as the next coach, as long as we have turnovers and penalties, the outcome will be the same."

Surprisingly enough, Miami is somewhat cheap when it comes to athletics. They don't even have some of the non-revenue sports such as golf.

How could Miami (FL) not have golf?

"According to a UM source, former NFL coach Jon Gruden initiated contact with the university to express his desire for the job and that the interest in mutual. Hocutt said there's no timeline on the hire and that money will not be an issue in the selection."

Former #UM LB Dan Morgan told me this morning he heard Gruden had already begun contract talks with Canes

Interesting. I guess the guy wants to try his skills in college. He already knows he can have just about any NFL job that opens up. Seems he is interested in going to college.

IMO, unless Gruden wants to be in Miami specifically, he should wait until other jobs come up. I don't know how attrative the UM job is. Poor facilities, cheap administration, poor fan interest...Not sure about this one. Maybe Luke Skywalker and 2 Live Crew will come back for Gruden. Doo Doo Brown!

More from Manny Navarro on Twitter...

Hearing Jon Gruden has agreed to $3.4 mil deal to become #UM's next coach. Trying hard to confirm it officially.

Sunday Night Football on NBC mentioned him as a possibility in San Fransisco when Singletary is fired.

Miami is not what it used to be. The facilities are shite, the fan base is not great even in good years, and the pay has been historically low. Shannon only made 1.5 million a year. The salaries fro assistants is even worse(this may change).
The pros are you have great recruiting base two hours from campus, and its Miami.

He could make them a Top 5 program in a day and a national power again in a week.

FSU & UF can kiss their shits goodbye
