I think if Urban brings in the staff he plans to it could be a fun time in the future; I don't think Hoke is all that so far yet. He's impressed me but he has a freak at QB

Hoke is a defensive coach. Now, if you look at the Michigan defense last season before Hoke was there, look at the defense this year, look at the defensive roster (not a very impressive roster at all) Hoke is damn impressive. Urban Meyer is a great offensive coach but unless he's trying to bring in a high profile, big-time defensive coordinator, Michigan and Hoke won't have much to worry about.

I think OSU is planning on keeping Fickell as DC from what I've heard. Nothing is guaranteed yet of course but Fickell was co DC the last few years when OSU was churning out All-Americans.

Edit: And I have been impressed with Hoke's D but we'll see how teams adjust. I shouldn't have made it seem like i wasn't concerned

All-Americans in the most overrated defense annually. OSU defense just gets demolished when they play SEC teams.

The 06 Defense was extremely overrated. They 07 D was good but just got lost on a few plays totally against LSU. That 07 OSU D held Michigan to 3 points and <100 total yards the same year Michigan scored 38 on UF in the Cap 1 bowl.

Regardless, he wasn't in charge, he was the lesser of the 2 from what I've heard

Well last year versus Arky you might have won, but your defense allowed:

26 points
Passing: R. Mallett (ARK) - 277 YDS, 2 TD, 1 INT
Rushing: K. Davis (ARK) - 26 CAR, 139 YDS
Receiving: J. Adams (ARK) - 9 REC, 120 YDS, 1 TD

Is this going to get turned into the typical bitch about a consistently overrated Ohio State team because I'm a SEC tard thread?

If it is already a "done deal" just two days after his denial that an interview with tOSU had taken place, then he had to have known at the time of that denial, that it was for the most part a "done deal" already, and his denial of the interview was just a matter of semantics. He pretty much laid the predicate with his carefully chosen words. He is very good at "coach speak."

Maybe I'm thinking of a different game but the OSU defense was skulldragging Arkansas in the first half then went into a soft zone/prevent defense that Heacock loves in the second half. And Cam Heyward was fricking Mallet up. But maybe I'm thinking of a different game.

ETA: And that defense was sure overrated when we beat Oregon in 09 and lost to Texas in 08 (who had one of the best offenses in the country).

What do you mean "unless he's trying"???? Of course any coach would try to bring in the best coordinators they can. Why would Meyer be an exception?

Meyer won the natty in year 2 at UF, and has the qb to run his offense from the get go.

besides fickell, what other coaches does he want to bring with him?
