well to be fair to frank...with hurricane laura...he never stood a chance.
Nobody gave Tulane or SLU that excuse with IDA. to be fair to Frank, Frank failed as a head coach at UTSA and McNeese and went back to doing what he was good at.

yes he does. the current roster is pretty horrible.
I'm a VSU grad. I don't want to see our players leave for one 4-7 year at McNeese when they could contend for a championship at VSU.

Exactly.

Who's left in the Southland...McNeese, Nicholls, SELA and NSU?

Would have to look it up, honestly.
Part of the pitch to land Goff was that McNeese will be FBS “soon.” So it won’t be much longer (in the grand scheme of things)

laughable to even compare the damage in LC to that of NOla and Hammond. lmk when every light pole was snapped and the press box condemded at their stadiums.
only one that compares is Nicholes.
nola and hammond dont have businesses from IDA still waiting to rebuild all over town. didnt have their campus and stadium destroyed. didnt have their operations center(mcneese just built and its really nice) have so much damage they couldnt enter for a year.
i dunno how frank would have done otherwise but he stood zero chance with the shape LC was in. Its much better today and getting better every day. and the lights will be replaced for next year, teams are back in the ops center etc.
but goff has to go hard at the portal. in fact he needs to go hard at the portal every year.

This!
That’s how Sam Houston got so good. Go after the transfers from all levels and juco players.

He inherited a championship roster at VSU. Our 2018 team that went undefeated was mostly freshmen and sophomores. He went 22-3 with that core group.

Our starting QB, who was a 3000-yard passer/1000-yard rusher, has indicated that he is sticking with VSU.

Hilarious and sad at the same time:
Downvotes for stating that I hope our players don't transfer and that our QB has indicated that he is staying.

Goff pulling almost his entire staff from VSU over to McNeese. Would be surprised if some players don’t follow.

Added FT Huggins (legendary Louisiana WR in HS - Northeast High and at SELU) as the WR Coach today as well. That offense will be fun to watch. True Air Raid guys, plucked right off the Mumme Tree.

A sophomore DL has entered the portal and has an offer from McNeese, but he also has an offer from South Dakota State, and they made it to the FCS semifinals this year.
He is a player that was recruited by Goff.
The seniors were all recruited by Bell, and there was some tension between them and Goff during his first season, and several key players subsequently transferred.
A key factor will be who VSU hires.

There hasn't been a public announcement yet, but VSU has its new head coach.
It's going to be a change in philosophy, but I think the players will love him.

The hiring isn't done yet.

VSU has announced the hiring of Tremaine Jackson from Colorado Mesa.
He was 10-3 there in two seasons (2-1 in a 2020 spring season due to Covid and then 8-2 this past year with a win over Colorado Mines who made it the semis only to be beaten by VSU).
He seems to be extremely personable and he engaged the community around Grand Junction leading to a notable increase in game attendance.
He's a touch on the "woke" side, and that might not sell in Valdosta as it did in Grand Junction, but again, the guy is extremely engaging.
Only two players (one each: OL and DL) have entered the portal since Goff left. Only time will tell as the players get to know him and we have spring practice.
