I have interacted with Saban multiple times and know several who played for him and heard what they have said about him. He can be a total a-hole, as can most successful, driven people in life.
You missed my point totally. Whether a coach is an a-hole or not is not a factor. Most of the good ones can be downright a-holes. But as long as they produce wins, nobody cares because that's the currency that coaches are judged by.
Canada wasn't hired to be the jovial, lovable little cherub of the coaching staff. He was hired to coach the offensive side of the football to success, and had won a national award for his ability to do so, and continues to do that successfully at a very high level for the Steelers. If a coach can do that, I don't care if they are an a-hole or not.

I'm sure it was impressive as hell against those slow-arse big 10 linebackers, but in the sec, without a major speed advantage, it makes it easy on the defense.
Wait.. People don't really still think this is a thing do they
Wisconsin has had a better defense the past 10 years than anyone in the SEC... they have basically all white linebackers... but they are anything but slow

The personnel in 2018 might have been even better for it than in 2017
Very true and the Canada offense had crazy potential as it was
But firing Canada led to 2019 so it was in fact worth it I believe

Canada was not a bad hire. In fact, it was Eaux's 2nd best coordinator hire of his entire tenure. Yet, Coach 0 couldn't help but pester and tinker, and run him off.
O bought into Saban's "eye candy" comment.

Oh wow ONE defense. Top to bottom the SEC has more defensive speed than the big 10.

Lol.
Can someone post some of Canada's best plays? I was super high at the time, and I can't remember shite about what happened.

I still remember the roar of the crowd after the pre-snap movement prior to our first offensive play against BYU. It was a thing of beauty. The harbinger of things to come.

Lol I counted 8. Only the farside wide receiver, the center, and the QB didn't move. Also rewatching parts of the Florida game that year and my god could this offense set the edge. But also Etling is a really bad QB. He's missed at least two wide open throws so far.

God this offense made Russell Gage look like a god.

Missed Darrel Williams down the sideline early in that game

Also missed Chark in a one on one because he underthrew the ball.

I still can’t believe how bad state beat our arse that season
I think that was the game we only had like 3 DL and an out of shape Arden Key available

It is amazing how good our D looks with good linebackers though.
