Makes no sense if Woody is down to this tier of coach to not hire Aranda.

What has Aranda done to justify being a tier higher? I don't get the Aranda love.

my bet is based on a few obserations:
1) Riley and Jimbo are happy where they are. THey have no reason to leave. Jimbo left FSU because he had reasons to leave secondary to lack of support. TAMU is very supportive of him, so why would he leave. TAMU will match any salary +/-. Riley is happy where he is, and OU supports him. He will also get SEC money soon.
2) Aranda is good, but not enough experience as head coach. Also, i sense that administration wants someone more outgoing and vocal.
3) Character flaws rule out several others including Meyer and Kiffin.
4) Napier is good, but I cant see a jump from ULL to LSU. Simply put, he's too big a risk.

This leaves Campbell. No blemishes. Solid character. Overachieving at a Big 12 school. Process oriented. Will stabilize our program (think Title IX, recruiting violations, etc.).

I like your thought process, and I’d definitely be happy and impressed with a Campbell hire.

My only hesitation that he’s the guy though comes from the early reports of the “white whale” and the ongoing assurances from supposed insiders that everyone will be thrilled with the hire.

As solid as Campbell is and as good as I think he’d do in BR, I’m not sure he qualifies for either of those descriptions.

Which leaves, imo, Fickell.

There’s no question he would be considered a Woodward whale hire, and I can’t imagine too many people that wouldn’t be extremely excited about it.

The only real question marks people bring up about him is recruiting in this region and the idea that he doesn’t want to leave the Midwest so no one really thinks much further on it.

I have no inside info, I just think he makes a lot of sense given the way this has played out.

he would be a solid hire!

his teams are full of 3 stars and maybe a few 4 stars and they always in every game and rarely you see them getting blown out by teams that has so much talent than ISU.

supposedly the comment he made not going after 5 stars players, he has a point! why waste your time going after them when you know for sure they are not coming, seriously what 5 star wants to play for Iowa state

Napier stans: omg what Napier has done at ULL is amazing
Also Napier Stans: Matt Campbell is horrible, he hasn’t even won the big 12.

Sooo one guy is this can’t miss coach that LSU will rue the day they passed on but the other guy who’s had NFL job offers is terrible.

Just like Jason Garrett. None of those intangibles equals wins.

Aranda, Jimbo, and Saban are intimately familiar with the deal in Baton Rouge, and the expectations of the job.

If Aranda is comfortable with his situation in Waco, you can't hold a gun to his head and make him come back to LSU.

I would run far away from Napier. He appears to be campaigning for the job, has demands that maybe unreasonable for someone who hasn't been an upper tier P5 HC. At least that was the excuse for Napier not taking the Auburn job. If Florida wants to take that chance on Napier, more power to them.

Campbell has been impressive at Iowa State, he recruits Texas and Florida, so he's not unfamiliar with that. I guess you can make similar comparisons to Saban when he was at Mich State regarding Campbell, but I believe he is the riskier option between He and Aranda.

He’s done well this year. Isu has been ranked about 50 in class rankings every year before

He doesn't know. He's just making stuff up to fit his narrative. His mind is made up and he's unwilling or incapable of accepting and examining information that is contrary to his predetermined conclusion.

He also doesn't realize that probably half of Iowa State's current class is from the south.
