Would love to hire this guy to LSU.

LSU is just a better program overall than Michigan State (except for the coaching part). Plus, why would one want to play against Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh every single year? They should have lost to Michigan in his first season!

What I'm getting at is the competition in the Big Ten is now arguably much more difficult than the SEC. Who is the top coach he would have to go against after Saban? McElawin? Freeze? Bert?

He would be the second best coach in the SEC and would have a much better chance to get a shot at getting in the playoff each year. Give him a blank check. We hired someone out of Michigan State before we created the program we have today.

Discuss.

He's a great coach, but he's getting older and I want to say has had some health issues. He's got MSU rolling right now, I think he's happy where he is.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love it but don't see it as being very realistic

I wouldn't want to play an Urban coached OSU and up and coming Harbaugh coached Michigan every single year if I were a coach hoping to win a championship someday.

Urban and Harbaugh is a harder challenge each year then Saban and the rest of the scrubs in the SEC west. That's just a fact. He would have a much easier time playing the likes of Bert and Freeze

He's held his own just fine against both.

He would turn 60 before the spring game. LSU should hire someone who could conceivable coach here for a decade or more. Program stability is very important.

I'm a huge fan of his, but it wouldn't be a good hire.

He's good, but too old. I'd rather a coach no older than 50 or so..

He's got a good thing going at Michigan State and he is a man of integrity. If LSU made an offer he'd go to Michigan State and say he'd be happy with a raise from MSU and not need to have the offer matched. MSU would give him a raise and he'd be happy. Plus, his daughters go to MSU and he likes being at MSU. He seems to hold his own against Meyer--he's 2-2 versus him and he's 1-0 v. Harbaugh.

All that, plus if he was going to an SEC school, it would probably be alma mater South Carolina.
