Someone's jimmies are rustled. Maybe some fresh air will do you some good. Take a walk through the park, skip some rocks across the pond, anything

Yeah, I'm not sure why people are getting upset at UT/Saban rumors. If none of them turn out to be true, then what does it matter if some guy on the internet said UT paid off Saban's debts?

Eh, I'm a lot closer to Jack than Mr. Morgan. Personal preference though

because you are not allowed to disgrace the great name of Saban! The brethren of Alabama will ride in on their wives/sisters backs and brandish weapons or nuts if you utter one negative word of their savior CNS

How long was the Trayvon Martin trial thread? I know that was a long one on the OT.

The Boston Bombers thread on the OT has to be up there.

That thing would gain 5 pages in a minute the night the chase was happening.

So when the Saban extension is announced, I vote to change the thread title to Miles to Texas and see what kind of mileage this thread can get.

You better beleedat. Seriously though, if Saban has that kind of debt and UT boosters were willing to help him with it, I could never blame him for leaving. He'd be stupid not to take that kind of offer. Still sounds like a huge amount of money for a college football coach.

If this is turned out to be true, I'd root against us during the Saban-era, b/c the melt entertainment would bring me more enjoyment than another national title. I can see the headlines.... UT boosters buy up 40 mil of Saban's debt for 4-8 season.

The more I think about it, the less I like it. This is going to start a bad trend. College football coaches making 10million + a year?

wow,.

Again, this is because people have requested any Bama "sources" or "insiders" be posted here as well.

Tommy Deas from TideSports.com (Bama's Rivals Site):

quote:

In reference to Saban and an enhanced deal at Alabama.

Nothing, really, at least not internally -- to use a Saban term, "relative to" how this has gone before. Saban has had raises and restructuring of his contract more than once at UA.

What's different is that it has become public. Texas (or to be specific a Texas booster -- not the AD, a booster) tried to feel Saban out last year around this time by calling Sexton. The year before (I think that's right), it was, apparently, the Cleveland Browns doing the same thing.

But it didn't play out in public.

It took some months after the season for all the i's to be dotted and t's crossed, but there wasn't all this anxiety because it was behind the curtain.

Because Texas' previous approach to Sexton (and, again, a Texas booster's approach, not the actual university) became public knowledge, there is a lot of light on this now.

Texas will possibly, probably or maybe be looking for a new head coach. Or maybe not. But because it has been reported that Mack Brown -- apparently unbeknownst to him at the time it was reported -- is on his way out, this is a high-profile thing.

We will see how it plays out, and on what timetable it plays out, but there is now public pressure and public expectation for Saban to reach some kind of accord on a contract enhancement now rather than later. And that is really all that is different here.

Nothing really of note. Just bringing up a point on contract negotiations in the past.

I would imagine that at some time, Jimmy Sexton is going to wear out his welcome with respect to the administration and Boosters in Tuscaloosa.

ETA: IF Saban stays to the tune of substantially more money, that threshold might be reached sooner than later.

I think that's just a small point in the bigger point he was trying to make.

This contract negotiation isn't going slower than any others, it just seems like it because the Texas side is being played out in the public eye.

Like it's been said on here, message board/twitter world doesn't move at the same pace as the real world.

I imagine long as he's Saban's agent, that won't be the case.
