Money will uproot almost everyone, Ohio is Fickell’s home, but double his salary and he will make his home in Baton Rouge. Nonsense that he will not leave Ohio because coaches are moving all the times when an ideal situation is present.

I honestly don't think Fickell is wired that way at all. Cincinnati is joining an interesting new alliance in the new Big 12 also, so intriguing things are afoot.

Besides that, Fickell just doesn't strike me as a guy who is going to do well if he leaves for a USC or an LSU. Yes, the recruiting gets easier, but I just feel like he is more of a "motivator" than great coach. I honestly think he's really good at making a Cincinnati-type team reach its full potential as opposed to managing a juggernaut with great expectations. I could be wrong.

Don’t be surprised if Fickell gets a call from the Burrows!

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he spoke to Burrow about LSU.

Burrow is an Ohio kid who spent 3 years at Ohio State and two at LSU.

Who better to compare/contrast the two schools, cities, cultures etc?

I agree. I am not fickle about wanting us to go after Fickel.

Yep. When you make coaching football your career, moving to different cities in different states is par for the course.

Right you are sir. Money is the strongest motivator in the world. I's move to China for 5-7 million per year.

You never know what other factors may come into play that the public does not know about.

Does he like his AD?
Is he having any issues with getting facilities etc that he desires?

He's just like everyone else when they are thinking of pursuing another job, sometimes what pushes you out the door is having a boss you can't stand or coworkers that drive you nuts.

On the other hand if he loves the place and they have a "give Luke whatever he wants" relationship then more money may not be enough.

I'm trying to understand statements like this. I believe he is a good coach, but what has he done at Cincy that is so great? I get that the record has been good lately, but if you go back and look at the wins, there is nothing impressive on the schedules at all except maybe beating ND on the road this year and I think ND was over-rated personally.

The one year he got to coach Ohio St, he went 6-7. They were 12-1 the year before under Tressel and went 12-0 the year after with Urban Meyer.

He's from Ohio and his whole coaching career has been up in Big 10 country.

From what I've read and listened to, he doesn't appear interested.

The fact that his two dream jobs, OSU and ND, don't appear to be opening any time soon may help LSU.

I think Florida would probably have a better chance at landing him than LSU, but Florida appears to be too stupid to fire Mullen.

Florida would put him in the easier eastern division and also right in the middle of Florida HS talent while FSU and Miami are floundering.

If he takes LSU he has to deal with bama just to make it to the SEC title game, let alone the national championship.

Ryan Day has the only job that Fickell wants, and the fans there love Day. They are contemporaries. So where can he go? Maybe LSU? Another ex Ohio State discard did pretty well at LSU. Some QB named Burreaux I think.

From all accounts from people that know him he is content at Cincy until something bigger in the Midwest opens up. He will be getting a substantial raise, joining the Big 12 and coaching his kid. He has never coached outside the state of Ohio.

I hear you. But if Cincy was to play Penn State, Mich State,Ole Miss, or pretty much any team in the country right now on a neutral field then who would you take. I would place my bets on Cincy for sure over the 1st 3 I mentioned.

I got news for you buddy, Luke Fickell ain’t coming to south Louisiana.

Pretty good chance he doesn’t go out to Southern California either.

He is a Midwesterner by birth and is more than happy residing/working in Ohio.

Fickell not coming. He's going to wait on a Ohio State, Michigan, ND type job to open. Also by joining the big 12 and Texas and OU leaving he will have a much clearer path the CFP in the Big 12 while he waits on a big job to open in the area he wants to stay in.
