If all other attempts fail, Jimmy Lake is the worst LSU can do. That’s a home run hire.

I think we will be fine too, but if Lake is a homerun hire then why are we not going after him now? Is White that much better? Do we know if Kelly is even looking at him? Just curious why you specifically mentioned Jimmy Lake as the "floor" for our DC hire.

Kelly is looking for the best alignment with what he wants to do. It’s not a bad strategy,

My question was more to why you mentioned lake specifically as the floor. Do we know if Kelly is targeting him or he has interest?
Like I said I think we will be fine too but if Lake is a homerun hire and not employed why are we not going after him right now? What puts white ahead of lake if lake is a homerun hire?
I really don't know much about lake other than his wiki so just curious.

Our current DC would be great to keep. I don’t know why we wouldn’t give him another year. With all the roster turnover LSU is going to struggle this year anyways. Why not see what he can do since he showed so much promise. Jones May end up being the real deal if he continues to coach how he did down the stretch.

You keep saying this like you know Kelly didn't interview him. Maybe he did and thinks there are better coaches out there or maybe Daronte wants to go back to the NFL after this.
Also, a few good games doesn't indicate Daronte is a great DC. I'll leave the evaluation of Jones up to Kelly, but by no means is Jones a proven or great DC. If we keep him I am guessing we must have missed on like 5 other people before we landed on him.

I’m sure Kelly interviewed him. But all the other stuff posted on this site is speculation. We already saw during the coaching search that most reports and insiders are nonsense.
