does not want it. And there is nothing that can be done to change this. Del Rio is not going to be the next coach at LSU. No matter how much you want him to be. He is the coach of a playoff bound NFL team. His dubious ties to Louisiana mean nothing. His wife is from Lafayette. Her daughter, his step daughter, graduated from LSU. Big deal. That's it. It's not going to happen.

Nick Saban is the head coach at Alabama and we all know how he got there. Forget the boosters that want to bring him back so they can glad hand him and feel that they are part of something to feed their egos. It is not going to happen. Believe it if it makes you feel you better.

Steve Spurrier is a washed up old man. He might be the next coach at LSU but don't think we are getting the Spurrier of old. We may get SS, but the outcome might not be what you wanted.

I fear that the next hire will divide our fan base again...not everyone will be happy with the choice.

There's higher odds on your statement being true than the sun coming up tommorrow and by the looks of this threads you have a fair share betting against the sun

What is negative is the apparent lack of reality of probably 50 some odd percent of the LSU fanbase. We have a coach that has won more game in a three year stretch than any other coach in LSU history, but many think that we can do better. I am at a loss as to why people believe this to be the case.

Past history does not agree.

Something always does. We can't even get through a game without dividing the fanbase.

Can't please everyone.

I wouldn't be opposed to most of the coaches I've seen mentioned, except for the Pinkels and Tedfords of the world.

Seems to be almost lose lose.

Those that say no big names say its just a pipe dream.

Those that say no small names say they aren't qualified.

Kind of silly really.

To be honest, I don't like ANY of the names being bandied about as the next head coach should Les Miles leave.

And you or anyone else foresaw a gaudy 32-6 out of Les Miles at LSU?..I didn't see it coming.

Les Miles 28-21 overall pre-LSU, 2-2 vs Okla, 0-3 in bowls?

Is SOS or CNS that much less the HCs they were formerly with better talent?

But, do agree with some of you sentiments, and think that guys like Kelly, Schiano, Petersen,etc..should get interviews.

Oh I know. But winning breeds expectations. You win one, 70 percent of the fan base expects you to win another one in the next 4 years, if not the year after. Despite the fact that no team has won the BCS title twice... yet.

shite, everyone is so ripe to saying this season is such a "disappointment", but if we win this weekend and win the Sugar Bowl. That's pretty damned good.

I got into it with another LSU fan on an unnamed pay site about Saban and Bama. He said it was only media hyping Saban to Bama and it had no substance. I told him if we keep hearing it something must be there. This was even after the famous "I am not going to be the next Alabama coach" speech. The fact JDR and SOS are continually mentioned does mean something.

There is something there.
