Agreed, but there is no way that anyone can realistically believe that we would have done better over the last 3 years than we did with Miles.

I disagree... to an extent.

Most of our fans buy into the fact that we have the top talent in the country. So not winning an SEC title in the last 3 years (for arguments sake assuming we don't win this weekend) is underachieving (in their eyes).

Regardless, its been a hell of a run. We've won a whole hell of a lot of games... and some of the best wins in LSU history.

NO. How can you belive that? We might have 4 L's with Saban.Who the frick knows ? All that is known is LSU has had the best run in history over the last several years.

Hawaii is the only undefeated team left in CFB. LSU is two plays away from being undefeated.

It can't be proven one way or another.

I think some of the problem with Miles (at least for me) is how the small problems keep getting worse with each season. I'm talking about the penalties and stupid mistakes our team makes. I just get a bad feeling that it'll end up leading to losses instead of all the close wins we had this year. We are very lucky to have the record we have right now.

because the 2 games we lost were largely due to coaching

one can reasonably deduct that with better coaching, we wouldnt have lost those games

with no sec or national titles

We were lucky in 2003. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't.

Name one program with more than one since the inception of the BCS? 0

There are 10-12 programs that are even on a national scale that will compete for the NC. No program will dominate. Parity is here to stay.

For one thing we had too much inexperience at key positions...qb, oline, wr, safeties, returners. second, every coach has weaknesses. While one may have blown Miles away in a certain aspect where Miles is weak, he would've suffered in other areas. Saban, as praised as he is, has had only 1 season in his career with less than 3 losses. Spurrier has never gone undefeated...

and we arent getting any closer under miles

we have a young, pretty good team in '05- peach bowl, fine
we have the most talented team in '06- nowhere near NC game
we have the best team in '07- piss away a shot at the NC game

Who says? LSU does not have more talent than any other team in the country. We have talent, but above and beyond. This is a myth that has grown to epic proportions largely due to Saban being at Alabama.

This kind if thinking is disastrously flawed. Does that mean that, no matter what happens (because you are in the anti-Miles camp) that the winning occurs because of luck, talent, senior leadership, and the losing is because of coaching?

Or do you admit that the winning, over the past three years, was also due to coaching? Because if so, your point is lost somewhere.

Was the previous guy's losing (at almost twice the rate of Miles, by the way) due to coaching? What about the winning during that period?

to win it all you need a lot of luck. that is beyond coaching.

we stayed in the conversation till the last week... thats about as good as it gets.

Chicken - how can it not be a polarizing figure? We have a coach now that is arguably the best fit (but for his Michigan connections) available, and people are ready to move him on for losing 2 games/year.

As long as we stay in that group and are "in it" every year, I think everyone needs to just shut up.
