We really hired the first guy Pomanksy found after Brady recommended him lol

I think it may be a good hire though

Don't think so, QB coach, isn't that the thought?

There is no room. He would be the 6th offensive assistant coach, leaving just 3 for defense (and 1 for ST).

Panthers rode tf out of McCaffrey when this guy was RB coach. Maybe he'll stop Kevin Faulk's go with the cold hand rotations.

I like the hires. I give Coach O props for doing his homework and locking them down.

I pray I feel the same way 5 years from now.

Sounds like it. I just don’t see Callaway sitting underneath these two as an analyst. He certainly doesn’t deserve to. I guess we’ll see

They can give him a bump in pay, let him continue to work with the QBs as lead analyst, and let him know he’s first in line for the next on-field opening. Hopefully that’s enough to keep him here, because he definitely seemed to have a positive impact on the QBs.

I don’t understand this line of thinking.

How does he “deserve” to be higher?

Im sure they interviewed him for pgc, didnt work out.

How does one go about “deserving” of certain roles? Especially a dude that has been here a year.

if the market says callaway has better options, good for him. If he remains here then he's probably not the guy you thought he was from the fluff articles

at some point group think decided Russ was the man behind our QB play because he had a headset and they talked to him on the sidelines

Bama had two former head coaches in a row working as analysts who waited and moved up to be their OC. Maybe someone does hire him away for an on-field gig or a better opportunity, but if he stays it’s not because he sucks.

Organize a March for Callaway and No Safeties Coach. Tj Ribs to Walk Ons is a good route.

What is this boards obsession with Calaway? What has he ever done to warrant any attention at all? It has to be his frat hair and style that has this board so turned on.

Its crazy.

They had the same obsession with jorge fookin munoz too.

Callaway is a way better coach than munoz but that doesn't automatically make him the perfect oc candidate

For the last two seasons, Callaway mentored record-setting quarterback Devlin Hodges. In 2018, Hodges earned the Walter Payton Award for the top offensive player in all of FCS football. That season, Hodges set a school record with 4,283 yards. For his career, the three-time SoCon Offensive Player of the Year and All-American, passed for an FCS-record 14,584, breaking the old record set by Steve McNair. As a unit in 2018, Samford's offense led the nation in passing yards per game (392.7). The offense ranked fourth nationally in total offense (515.9 ypg.), and eighth in both red zone offense (.898) and in first downs (298). The team’s 2017 offense led the SoCon and ranked fifth in the nation in passing yards per game (33.4 ypg.). In 2016, Callaway’s offense ranked third among all FCS schools in passing offense, averaging 349.4 passing yards per game. The offense also ranked sixth in the nation in red zone offense (90.2%), 11th in team passing efficiency (155.24), 12th in scoring offense (35.1 ppg.) and 14th in total offense (446.2 ypg.).

Russ was a OC at Samford lighting it up for 2 years. He actually run an offense before that's why we like him.

I love the Peetz hire I don't understand Mangas

I think the main thing with Calloway is it was reported (probably falsely) that he was already lined up for an on-field role.

People are trying to work that into the equation as if it were fact, when it obviously was not.

I see no scenario where Calloway gets an on-field role now.

But for the sake of continuity, I hope he stays as an analyst and learns and moves up at first opportunity.

Mangas has a relationship with Peetz. The fact that he was here last year and knows a lot of the players already doesn’t hurt, either. That trumps Callaway’s better resume.

Mangas? Sounds like he’s going to stink.

I love the idea of having the offense in the hands of young coaches who came up through the spread offense and understand the concepts like the back if their hand

This was a lazy hire by Coach O. He asked someone else for advice, and hired two guys that nobody else wanted for OC and PGC. Of course Brady is going to recommend people that work under him. How much money we spend, we should have grabbed one of the top OC of the country
