I think the assumed narrative goes like this: Herman is definitely going to UT, so the next best coach would be Jimbo. If he won't come and/or Coach O wins out/looks impressive against Alabama, Arkansas, Florida and A&M Coach O has coached himself into contention.

And, if neither Herman nor Jimbo will come Coach O, with the ability to keep the current coaching staff (Aranda, Juluke, Grimes, Craig, Raymond) and recruiting class would be OK with a new offensive coordinator.

Does anyone know if Ensminger wants/expects the gig full-time? I assume Aranda would be allowed to bring in is own DL line coach (with Pete Jenkins staying heavily involved) and LB coach (currently manned by Dennis Johnson, a graduate assistant).

Is that about right?

Ensminger is lucky to have a job. He just fell into the OC spot because it was an easy temporary fix.

No was should he be looked at as a permanent solution if O were to somehow get the job.

Make him head of BBQ for events.

Maybe Chip Kelly will show up and save us from the above scenario

Nothing is definite right now. Nothing at all

I know it's all business, but it seems somewhat contradictory to say that O righted the ship enough to warrant the HC spot, but Ensminger didn't do enough to be the permanent OC.

Personally if it comes to this I'd want a new OC, one that recruits would want to play for and has a history of effective offenses; I just wonder if Coach O, who felt USC was disloyal to him, would not re-up Ensminger after helping him get the job.

I guess the AD can have a say in that...

As discussed in previous threads, Chip Kelly would be an utter disaster akin to Rodriguez to Michigan

I wouldn't mind Kelly (not my first choice), but the scenario proposed by OP would have me in BR waiting for him to get off the plane with an "I love chip" sign.

The NEXT BEST??? Lol You people are clueless if you actually consider Herman a better coach than Fisher. It seriously blows me away how much you suck that guy off. It's like Miles all over again but worse, because you're sucking a guy off that doesn't even coach here!!! LOL

See this is funny to me.

The offense has been record breaking these past few games. Yet you want to give Orgeron the credit for that and not Ensminger.

I really think there are 2 or 3 names after Jimbo and before O in a perfect world. I don't think O gets the nod unless he wins the SEC. Long shot at that one, and personally I still wouldn't want him, but that's just me.

I think names like Fleck, Kelly, and Fedora and before O. No way they shouldn't be. As much as some of you rantards love you some O, he's under-qualified for THIS coaching job. The aforementioned names are all successful coaches that are actually running programs.

ETA: Well, except Kelly, but he's proven he can do it.

Kelly is not a leader. Period. You need a strong leader in the sec running a program like this. Have you heard him talk?

He took a program to a level of success they had forgotten about. He can mumble to his left hand while drawing the same Power I Iso play over and over the chalkboard like a cracked out Ritalen patient for all I care. If he wants the job, take him.
