At least we know Joe is good at hiring people already close to the program.

In LA we have great people, great food, hunting, fishing, and LSU football... we don't have mountains or beaches or a booming economy... for many LA residents LSU football is their major source of entertainment... I agree that a third choice hire is not acceptable.

I'm with ya rabbit...but I don't think it will be that long once the OC is announced...

to all LSU students on "TOPS"... don't forget to pay your spring tuition and be sure to remember to buy your student tickets so you can watch our third choice hire

I bet Les Miles has a huge shite eating grin on his face right about now. LSU is one of the best jobs in the country and y'all are gonna hire Ed Orgeron. Jesus Christ

Unbelievable. If this is true, say goodbye to the potential of football. O will not be successful running a program. Simple as that. There is no proof he can do it.

So it seem like all of the LSU fans that thought we should keep Miles unless we had a better coach lined up may have been correct?
I mean if you asked the RANT back in September or October if you would rather keep Miles or hire an unproven lifetime DL coach who couldnt cut it at another SEC West school what do you think the masses would have picked????
Stupid is as stupid does!!!!

LSU botched this so bad it's laughable.
Had an opportunity to hire one of the greatest up and coming offensive minds in the game and failed.
They get what they deserve and more 9-3/8-4 seasons are abound.

I have a hard time believing the names floating out there is all LSU contacted. I think it's more along the lines of coaches were not interested in LSU. This is the single most important hire in the program's history because you're now at the crossroads. It has hope because it's still talented. Make a bad hire and you're set back for years like Miami, USC or even FSU before Jimbo was hired. And then we settle for Ed fricking Orgeron. Unbelievable. I just can't see this admin being this incompetent unless coaches really did tell LSU to frick off it wasn't about the money. I can totally believe that part because Alleva's shortsighted ego trip firing Miles like he did in the middle of the season no doubt put us in a bad light among some coaches. He needed to go but not the way they did it. What's it going to take for LSU to finally get rid of Alleva? How he handled the situations last year and this year should be grounds of showing him the door by itself because he couldn't set his own personal ego aside and it's damaging LSU.
Ed better make a homerun hire at OC and keep Aranda. An OC that can save his arse which probably isn't going to happen for another 2-3 years when we can finally develop a QB. How the hell are the boosters okay with this pick? I just don't understand it. Sure, Herman is a huge risk but at least he's won at a program he started in. O hasn't done shite and was handed 2 teams with a wealth of talent that he just maintained at an average ability. At least you get someone young who in a lot of ways reminds you of a potential Urban Meyer? Jesus. I feel like I'm the only one with logic here that can look past loving the giant cajun's personality. I love him too but not as a HC...come the frick on.
LSU is not a program where you deserve to audition for a second chance especially when it has potential to put this program in a hole for 10 years.

I just don't understand it
If and that's huge if we somehow get kiffin
Him and Aranda will not be around after 3 yrs. What's O gonna do then? talk about rolling the dice that top flight coordinators keep coming in

THIS is what all of the people in support of keeping Les were talking about. The common refrain was, "Ok, if you fire him, who are you going to hire?" There were no good coaches out there. Jimbo or Herman are both OK, but this whole year there is a smaller supply than usual of good coaches and a greater demand. The answer was, "Well, ANY coach would want to coach here, we'll even have a shot at Saban or Harbaugh!" Lol, yeah right. This was the worry, that we'd end up with a poor coach who was no better and possibly worse than Miles. If Miles had been kept and ended the season now, we'd probably all be calling for him to get fired right? But suddenly coach O does it and he gets hired.
This is dumb.
This is dumb.
