The only reason K.Sshepard is being mentioned is he played here.Look at his resume it’s not there yet.Only has been coaching 4 years and 1st season as DC.He is just now taking off training wheels on his bike and there are some who want him to enter the Tour De France( LSUcoaching job).Let’s be sensible.

That’s a lazy explanation if that’s the case everyone would be begging for honey badger. Did him playing him give some folks attachment ? Sure but his resume this young into his career is impressive . He’s a lb coach for 3 years and Campbell could’ve gone out and brought in an experienced DC he rolled the dice in Sheppard because he believed in his leadership and ability to scheme together defense. If Dan Campbell speaks highly of you I’m sorry I’m listening.

Kelvin Sheppard has been a coordinator for 1/2 a season. He’s 37 years old.

He will not get an interview due to his lack of experience.

I’m not taking anything away from him. He’s doing a phenomenal job.

Kelvin Sheppard is not getting the job IMO and nor should be.
He isn't experienced enough.
Needs to prove it more at a higher level then we can maybe think about it down the line.

Not right now though. Just my opinion and I love the guy.

If his name was Craig steltz there would be less appreciation amongst many of the Sheppard haters and doubters

Arizona state has a 35 year old coach.

Who has been coaching for 18yrs.

He’s been a HC almost longer than Shepard has coached all together

Good on him for grinding but if being an errand boy at Arizona state counts for something, than so does playing ball at LSU/NFL

The Lions D is much better this year under Kelvin.

They were great to start last year as well. Them injuries COMPLETELY decimated the team including their franchise player.

Just let it play out. He will most likely get an interview

He needs to be interviewed simply because if he is not the guy today he may be the guy next hire.

Stop using press conferences to vet coaches.

I think we just have to look at how quickly he's moving up in an organization that is currently in their super bowl window. The Lions organization obviously trusts him. I'm gonna trust Dan Campbell and the other guys who have been in his meeting room's opinion over the rant.

It sucks bc the timing isn't right. He's obviously too unproven and risky to get the job this year. But if he has success in the NFL we will have missed our chance at potentially having long term stability at HC. Him being so young and an alum means he would likely be unattainable for others and stick with us for a long time.

It would've been nice if Kelly could've made the playoffs a couple times and then retired in 2 years or so and then evaluate Shep but right now is too soon. I can't see how he has the right connections to build out a staff right now

Well that's backwards thinking. You gotta think forwards in life to get ahead my man. When we hired Saban he didn't have the resume that we would look for today. Most NFL HCs don't have extensive resumes. They're young playcallers who never even had prior HC experience

We should definitely reevaluate how we look at candidates, and that doesnt mean I want KS.

Assistants that are part of great organizations will always been propped up. Think New England Patriots and Bama specifically. More times than not these guys never meet the level of their former teams when hired for jobs.

I much prefer coaches that have been steeped in tried & true offensive philosophies.

Am i shocked that Ben Johnson has his team 4/3 and Aaron Glenn is 1-7? Naw, not really. Aaron Glenn has never been universally successful at anything. He’s just leached on to good teams.
