List of coaches to replace Miles if Miles does indeed take the UM job

I say we should make all of these guys say no. I don't think all are realistic, but it wouldn't surprise me if we got 1 yes, which is all we need. Most of these are semi-realistic, so I left out the Harbaughs and such.
(In no particular order)
1. Jimbo fisher
* PROS------Great recruiter, proven winner, great offensive mind, can develop QBs, LSU ties.
* CONS------Discipline (Winston), Low chance he goes
* Bottom Line----Great coach, HR hire.
2. Mike Gundy
* Pros-----Great offense, has won conference championships, Has developed good QBs, great track record in comparison to most coaches, TX recruiting
* CONS-----Recruiting questions in LA, A few bad years, defensive question marks.
*Bottom Line----Great coach, questionable D
3. Jim Mora, Jr
* Pros-----NFL experience, good offense, great recruiting, built UCLA into winner.
* CONS-----Lost some games that he shouldn't, limited college experience.
*Bottom Line----Good football mind, questionable college experience
4. Dabo Swinney
* PROS-----Tremendous recruiter, good offense, young, not afraid to fire assistants, Good QB evaluation, Beat Urban Meyer, puts many star players in pros
* CONS-----Needs good assistants, trouble beating USCe
* Bottom Line-----Another "CEO" coach, but keep Chavis and we might be in business. Can recruit with the best.
5. Bret Bielema
*PROS-----Power run game like our current recruits, proven winner, Defensive mind.
*CONS-----recruiting questions, too high a buyout, doubtful he leaves, no proven SEC success
*Bottom Line-----Has some success and runs a good style for us, but hasn't recruited at a high level and has been questionable in SEC success.
IF all these guys say no, then you go to the back up considerations like Mark Hudspeth.
Hudspeth's recruiting ties and success at ULL is encouraging, but I would be nervous about him being ready for the big time.

Not sure why he'd leave UCLA. Plus he's a west coast guy isn't he?

4. Dabo Swinney
LSU can do much better.

5. Bret Bielema
Negative.

Briles and Patterson would be up there with Jimbo for me. Botherwise were just left out of the playoff and that was probably their best shot to make it.

Very interesting considering his father's history in the state.
But he's done well at UCLA and has them competing and recruiting at a high level. Still losing some WTF games though.

Those two guys you listed would be my top choices over anybody else on the list

Well that's no fun.

What's a coaching search list without a Gruden?

You gotta at least ask Jimbo. I know it's a long shot, but you never know. FSU has trouble paying assistants and it was a reason Bielema left Wisky for Arky.

He's a Pacific NW guy, but he also coached in ATL and his dad coached in NOLA. YOu never know. LSU has more $ than UCLA in terms of AD. It depends on what's important to him.

They could also do much worse. People don't give Dabo enough credit for the program he's built at Clemson and the players he's put through Clemson.

Negative.
Most likely.

At his age and as high as he's paid, I doubt he leaves. WE couldn't pay much more than he's currently making.
Plus, his health issues play a part too.

Would consider 1 and 3, the rest are a no way!

Which one of those would make you feel better regarding the future of the program than how you feel with Miles staying put?
Posted on 12/10/14 at 12:45 pm to Moustache
Mora is the only reality candidate from that list IMO

Gundy and Mora are the only real possibilities on that list and I don't necessarily think they'd be certain successes here.
If we got Swinney I would be so pissed.
Knowing Alleva we'd end up with Nutt and idiots that hate Les would celebrate anyway.

Beating Michigan yearly sustains him. Without that he would wither and die.

Briles ain't leaving the state of Texas. I know that for a fact.
Patterson maybe. But I'm not sold on his 4-2-5 being effective in the SEC. Only a 6 man front against Henry, Chubb, etc. etc. doesn't sound good. 61-58? EEEEEHHHHH

Dabo would have them boys Holy Rollin'
