It is the Detroit Free Press! When they don't have Miles to talk about, their rag can be found near the checkout stand carrying stories about the love children of Louth Holthz and Brittany Spears.....

My thoughts are that tOSU should not claim this guy as an alum. He's difficult to follow...too many blows to the head, perhaps.

Hey idiot - the newpaper was quoting Speilman's interview on a radio station. It has nothing to do with the newspaper itself.

Just like when the same newspaper reported that UM spoke with Miles last week - they were simply reporting what happened - it did indeed happen.

But anyway Speilman makes some interesting points.

Was is just me, or did most of his "points" fail to come out in complete, intelligible sentences?? I tried to read his answers several times, but they were so jumbled up, I finally just quit....

Perhaps you should read up on Chris Spielman before you make ridiculous comments like that. He's a very honorable man and I would be proud to associate myself with him.

His quote was, “I will be the coach at LSU next season.”

Well, when that? Next season? Well, OK, I don’t know if he said next season. I don’t know.

I stopped reading here. Spielman is talking out of his arse. He doesn't even know what Miles said in response to the DFP report.

DetroitTiger-
I'm afraid they did a little more than that...
They've conveniently "updated" the story so the original text is no longer available on their website.

However, they opened the original article by stating that Miles was once again a candidate for the job.

Pretty sloppy reporting by freep.com on this entire situation.

I was making a humorous observation about his comments. In light of the upcoming NC game with tOSU, I can make whatever humorous comments I would like about tOSU alumns. I am not calling his "honor" into question. My point was that he communicates in "stream of consciousness" and he makes little sense (not to mention, he ignores facts). Maybe I should have used my secret decoder ring to understand him a little better! He may be great for a radio interview, but his comments suck in a printed article.

If you think that my comments were designed to be insensitive to Spielman (in light of his work with cancer reseach), you're wrong. Just because I might think he's an idiot every time I see or hear him, doesn't mean I don't appreciate the things he's done for cancer research.

My comments are almost as ridiculous as "Chris Hansen is a Cockblocker," a comment I'm sure you meant to be understood as agreeing that sexual predators should get away with fricking young boys and girls.

Lighten up.

I don't know to think anymore.
It bothers me that Miles was as careless as he was to even have a conversation anyone at UM; he then followed that lack of judgment by stating that he was helping them find a coach (I do agree with Spielman that that was a very lame statement).
Go figure.
The thing I do know is that I'm tired of of all this drama. I say this to Miles: If you want to go UM, go because you're losing points with the LSU fans the longer this drama continues.
For all we know, Miles may have already told Ship that he's going and neither want to mess with the NC game. Who knows.
If you knew that your wife was lusting after another man, what would you do?????

There was nothing careless about having a conversation with UM. There was no bad judgment in making the statement about "helping" UM find a coach. It is the careless thinking and lack of ability of folks to deal with a simple conversation in which Miles told Michigan he was not interested the UM job or Michigan told Miles they were going in a different direction who have blown this totally out of proportion that is what is bothersome. The "helping" part of the statement is simply a polite way of not revealing who told whom no as to not embarass either party. That's all it was. Nothing more. Get over it.

Why folks are making this a big issue is really hard to grasp? Folks are way to ready to buy into grand and implausible conspiracy theories.

Spielman wanted to come to Michigan. It was his first choice. But his dad, a big OSU alum and former player said no. But Chris has admitted it on TV that UM was where he wanted to go.

He was a great college linebacker, big, fast, hit like a truck. Too bad he ended up with the Lions in the pros, they wasted him badly.

Mich is not coming for Les Miles. They have bigger fish to fry. Look out for a blockbuster hire.!

Agree 100%. I don't think Les was the number one choice. Maybe in Mich's top 3-5. I think that they are biding their time, because they can.

Looking at what opened up, and what is left to fill, is there a program out there that can outspend Mich. Lloyd got ~$1.5 million, his staff ~$1.3. The AD runs a surplus and the new stadium revenues will just increase that by a lot. So Mich can throw another $2-2.5 million at the HC position and another $1-1.5 at the assistant pool and never miss it.

When you are the big bidder, only real loyalty trumps your play.

I think Mich is working up their list, not down to make sure they don't miss a great/lesser know opportunity. Sans that, they will make a big play. They have luxury boxes in the new stadium to sell and they need a high profile guy to sell them.

Spielman comes off unpolished (which, as a broadcaster, he is) but sprinkled in there, if you listen, he really knows the "D" side of football. He readily identifies "O" formations and their weaknesses, similarly he does the same for the "D" side. What he has trouble with is the words to get that across in simple terms.

That makes him clumsy. He won't make the big time, unless his clumsy charm strikes a note and he can parlay that into a schtick that becomes endearing (like Ditka or Bradshaw, they know football, they just can't speak well).

Any truth to the rumor that U. Meyer and the Fla. AD don't get along?

I'm tired of this trash. It's time we fought fire with fire. Start rumors that UM has contacted Lou Holtz. Ten bucks says Detroit Free press runs with it.

Hey - idiot. It wasn't a "RUMOR". Miles did speak with Michigan as he himself acknowledged.

I didn't say it was a rumor. I said I was tired of the media constantly bringing this stuff up to the point of nausea after Miles has already addressed it. The media continues to spin this either to save face or because they just want to stir it up. Either way, if they want a news story let's give them a good one.
