Exactly! I don't see why LSU is chasing after anyone such as Kiffin, or Riley... They will be right back in the same position next year, looking for a new OC. Helfrich would be a good get for the simple fact that it will take him a couple of years before he takes another Head Coaching gig anywhere.

Why would LSU want someone like Riley? He is head coaching material. If he doesn't get a head coaching job somewhere this year, he for sure will next year!

Why do people keep saying this? Do you think LSU is successful if we have coordinators that aren't doing well enough to get other offers? The only way Orgeron will have success is if his coordinators are good enough to get offers every couple of years.

I have never said I don't Helfrich.

But I would prefer someone with a proven track record of play calling.

Also, hiring Riley would probably lock up Brennan. Not sure how Helfrich would impact that decision.

And as for him leaving in a year, that would have been the case with Kiffin, and likely would with Canada as well.

Hell, it probably is with Aranda. That is simply our reality with a DL coach at HC. We will always be dependent on coordinator hires and if they succeed, they will move or sooner or later.

His pay for Aranda kind of sets the standard of what he is willing to pay an OC. We know he won't pay more but I would think any agent worth a damn would want their client to be compensated similarly to the other coordinator...at least within a few 100k

No idea. But I really hope Alleva stays out of it.

We already had aranda on staff. You think aleva will get into a bidding war for someone else's coordinator?

I can't see F King signing off on us paying that much for both of our coordinators

He's staying to coach his Heisman hopeful QB

you realize the Heisman is weekend, and their regular season is over........so his coaching the "hopeful" will be irrelevant to the Heisman decision....

I think if O wants a guy they will offer him a contract. I am guessing O has a budget with what he can spend for an OC...doesn't mean we will get who they offer b/c if their current team counters with same why leave?

Well, he kinda should be blamed. He put wus in the position of having a HC that relies on his coordinators for everything

So now do you see the problem with the fricking binder coach?

I don't see what choice he has. Don't you think any agent would want similar pay for their client based on what the other coordinator is making?

Honestly I don't think they would.

Stoops has had sustained success for many years under many different coordinators. So much so that people often forget Stoops was a DC and think he is the brains behind their O.

I think the system is strong enough that he will not pay close to 2 million for an OC. He'll bring in another guy and they will be fine.

Do you think finding a good OC is easier than finding a great HC? I do

Well, there it is folks.... he's definitely not coming. Thanks for such insightful information!

Lol. He's interviewing for head coaching jobs, if none of those pan out, he's getting a huge raise at Oklahoma for producing 2 Heisman finalist. He's not taking another OC job. Trust me
