This was posted on SC's 247 board:

"Looking back at how Kurt Roper's offense was with Treon Harris at starting quarterback, it was far more productive than McElwain's offense with the same starting quarterback and an extra year of experience. Below are the scores from the last two years of Florida when Treon Harris was the starting QB.

2014:

UGA W 38-20
@Vandy W 34-10
USC L 23-20
Eastern Kentucky W 52-3
@FSU L 24-19

Average under Roper: 32.6 ppg

2015:
@LSU L 35-28
UGA W 27-3
Vandy W 9-7
@ USC W 24-14
FAU W 20-14
FSU L 27-2

Average under McElwain: 18.3 ppg

We can all agree that Jim McElwain is a great offensive coach, and my point is not to doubt that he is. But it is to say that Kurt Roper put up significantly better numbers with the same QB and players around him against essentially the same teams."

We'll see. It's critical we hold on to our QB recruit Brandon McIlwain.

Didn't UF also have an amazing RB, which they don't this year?

Brent Pease just got fired at Washington. Maybe Muschamp will hire him back too.

I'd like to point out that Treon is a spread type QB. That's not McElwains offense.

I really like Boom. I wish him the best as HC at South Carolina.

That being said, I think he might have learned all the wrong things after being dismissed from Florida.

It strikes me, if he re-hires Roper, he is out to prove that Florida was wrong to terminate him in the first place.

This is just my opinion, but that is detrimental thinking. IF anything, he is setting himself up for criticism all next year that he learned nothing from his time in Florida.

I hope I am wrong because I have always loved watching the guy on the sideline, but if this goes South --- he is not HC material.

Roper was only there one season. He didn't have a serviceable QB, kinda like UF at the end of the season this year. His Duke offense was effective.

Yeah, that's certainly disconcerting.

I would have been happier with Mangus retained as OC, but I guess Champ genuinely believes Roper was the right guy, but only had a year to work with a really shitty quarterback.

This is awfully risky. But so was hiring Champ in the first place.

Barring a last minute, Cleveland Browns assistant Kurt Roper is expected to be named offensive coordinator at South Carolina by new head football coach Will Muschamp.

The 43-year old Roper was offensive coordinator at Florida in 2014 and previously extensively worked under Duke head coach David Cutcliffe. He was offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach from 2008-13 for the Blue Devils and held the same position at Ole Miss from 1999-2004. He also followed Cutcliffe to Tennessee during Cutcliffe’s second stint with the Volunteers where he coached running backs.

Roper is a native of Ames, Iowa, and played quarterback at Rice

Does this board know that Roper and Brent Pease aren't the same. Roper had one year with NO QB. Not saying he is elite, but Pease hurt UF way more than Roper.

What is bad is that no matter who the OC was at UF the offense was the same and it sucked. the common thread in all was the HC. have fun with that!

The common thing in all of it was there was no QB. Withou Grier, Florida hasn't been all that on offense.

I don't think he's a bad OC
