Agree. Better than what we had, but nothing great. Hope this is not true. We could do better.

Why are some of you flipping out over a report some dude's brother might have heard on the radio?

He has history with Chief at UT. I agree this is out of left field if true, but that would just go to show how much our rant, raves and INPUT are utilized.

He obviously has been around tons of talent that got better and you know by name.

It won't be worse than CGC.

They had pretty high ranking passing offense in 2009 & 2010 - #9 & #22 respectively though. Their running game killed their overall offensive rankings.

And he does seem to be a very good QB developer. Lewis the QB at Duke was pretty lights out. And he coached Eli at Ole Miss.

Duke's total offensive rankings w/ Roper:

2010 - 59

improving, but not super impresive

In 3 seasons he's improved the Offense production by nearly 50%.

For those expecting a high profile hire and a name that resonates nationally and you can brag about, get yourselves prepared for dis appointment. It's very likely that that guy isn't out there. We'll make a good hire that we should all be happy with but just don't get your hopes so high that you lose perspective regarding any hire.

LSU could do far better than this. He was putrid as running backs coach at Tennessee. After one Alabama game in which Arian Foster sucked it up, Fulmer said that Roper "forgot to put Hardesty in." He was a putrid recruiter as well. He and his butt buddy Matt Luke coming along were one reason Tennessee fans were so pissed about the thought of hiring Cutcliffe last year.

That looks pretty good to me, especially when you think it's Duke.

He's adapted to their personnel. He knows they're not big or strong enough to slam it down people's throats, so they just do short pass after short pass.

He's as much the main offensive guy at Duke as Kirby Smart is at Bama. Cutcliffe is running the offensive show there.

This is what Cutcliffe did at Tennessee as well with Ainge.

Hell, if we hire this guy, I'd rather go with Billy G and get a QB coach.
This ...if he fails at least you still have a great recruiter and another year to snag a top notch OC.
