Tony Franklin is one of the best offensive minds in the business, regardless of the Auburn debacle.

Books, we're all miserable because we question 1) Miles decision making/hires and 2) LSU being stupid enough to give him even more money than he's getting now.

I don't troll around threads looking for your comments honestly, it's just everytime I do see one it's always of the negative variety.

It's fine, I know you don't like the guy, you are entitled to that opinion.

Sure.

Hated the Co-DC thing from the get go. Though I think rationally you could see maybe what he was thinking. Remember, this was before RP got the boot. We're returning a huge chunk of our offense, why not go for defensive consistency and try and make a run with a strong offense lead by a stud QB? In hindsight it was a terrible mistake (which he corrected), but coaches do this shite all the time. Promote from within... when it works out, you're a genius mentor, when it fails, you're a guy just trying to help out your buddies.

Then RP gets the boot and we are sidled with below average offense and porous defense.

Hiring Yanowsky was a total meh hire, but coaches hire meh assistants all the time.

Hell on the list of all time assistant coaching frick ups, check out Urban Meyer rehiring Stan Drayton this year after they let him go two years ago because his RBs had fumbling issues. Miraculously, that has returned this season. So I'm willing to forgive that.

Ensminger wasn't a knockout hire, but I don't think it was as terrible as it was made out to be.

Refresh me on some others, and I'll give you my opinion.

is that because we had a good season and you know there's no chance of miles getting axed now?

surprising list, every time I see one of your posts your spinning something in his favor. Kragthorpe got hired on as a WR coach, why was he unable to land something better if he's a good choice to run the entire offense at LSU?

i didn't bring that up, you did.

what's up with you taking a super defensive position regarding miles when/if someone says anything that you construe as negative towards him?

ha.

well i try to be rational generally, but i probably fall towards the optimistic side 90% of the time.

i think miles is unfairly criticized a lot.. by his own fans the media, rival fans, etc.

your guess is as good as mine.

all i know is he has a good track record as a teacher, particularly with QBs.

i know he's a religious dude and his stint at louisville was so bad, he'll likely never get to be a head coach again.

i think his style would mesh well with les.

i'm not sure what happened to his coaching star or why it fell so fast.

dick jauron went from nfl head coach to defensive backs coach for the eagles. shite happens sometimes, i guess.

i didn't mean to be super defensive... i meant that as a legitimate question.

is that why? or do you have other concerns now?

His wife has had health problems. This was the reason he resigned as WRs coach in the summer.

Him resigning isn't the question. How do you go from HC and offensive genius to only being able to muster a WR position coaching job immediately after that is.

Perhaps he didn't want the baggage that came with a coordinator or HC position while his wife was sick

Not saying this is the case.. but it's definitely not far fetched.

Or maybe he knew he'd be LSU's OC in 2011, so why take another OC job

i think he just wanted to go back to A & M, he was happy there before and would have been very involved in the offense from what sherman indicated. now i assume his wife is better as he was a finalist for the north texas job.

His wife was sick when he resigned at Louisville. I'm guessing that played a part in his decision. He had also coached at A&M before. He could also have thought he was getting the LSU job and when he didn't it was too late to get another similar job. I wouldn't look too much into it.

Yeah, it doesn't bother me. Coaches go through weird stages like this all the time from head men to position coaches back to head men and many times they are successful.

I personally don't know how he failed so badly at Louisville. He did well at Tulsa; a team that won two games the year before won 8 games his first year as HC at Tulsa. For whatever reason, UL didn't work out. Now, the articles one poster linked certainly weren't promising, but I would give he and Miles the benefit of the doubt for season before judging the hire were he to be made OC.

I still want Steve Logan to be the OC. Best QB coach/OC you could get in my opinion.
