I guess he could always get a raise down the line, but locking yourself in at 7.5 a year now is just not smart. There's schools out there that would have bumped him to 10 now.

The Michigan board is delusional lol

They honestly think they haven’t offered anyone and they think Dillingham signed extension without knowing what Michigan might offer. Good lord.

I love the desperation of LSU fans to get him hired as if they're the one that are writing Kelly's checks

I just find it humorous that in a year with a ton of open gigs an alleged top 5 coach cant even get an interview.

This isn't a troll, and I'm not saying Kelly is great. And he clearly checked out the last year or so at LSU.

But Michigan is not in a "hire a guy to get better" mode, they are having to fix a broken program. And the hiring cycle has passed, the big names are off the board, and they just got turned down by the Arizona State guy.

People are saying "hire Whittingham", he just stepped down at Utah. He didn't actually win anything more than Kelly did, and he hasn't coached outside Utah and that region. Kelly was at Notre Dame a decade, and knows the Midwest. Kelly DID get Notre Dame back to relevance, and DID fix the trainwreck Orgeron left at LSU quickly. No he didn't win a title.

If it comes down to promoting a coordinator vs talking Kelly into giving you 2 good years of effort, RIGHT NOW, I think Kelly is the better choice to stabilize things. They need to run the program and get 7-9 wins without off-field drama for a couple years, and THEN make a run at a hot young guy.

I agree, and the guy seems to run a clean program, they desperately need a reset

Apparently his background report showed up with red flags, and made him a non-starter

His background showed some political contributions to Republican candidates. The horror!

Particularly when kelly wont require a 10 year contract. And prob only needs 6-7 mill a year

If true LOL, I hope they go back to the RichRod days. Remember when they forfeited the 2020 season under the disguise of being scared of Covid but in reality it was because their team sucked. What a pussy state and University.
