Ofc he doesnt have to win a title there. But he wants to win one, and will Ole Miss give him all of the resources he needs to do that?

The only reason he should leave OM is for that. Otherwise, he is at the perfect place for him currently.

He believes Lane stays at OM.

Let me translate,

1. he thinks Florida is the top destination
2. he has inside info that Florida was unable to unseat Lane from Ole Miss
3 Therefore, he concludes that if Lane had rejected the Florida offer, he would not accept an LSU offer, thus would be staying at Ole Miss.

Lane may stay at Ole Miss, but I believe that right now, Dooley only knows he will not be at Florida.

Given Landry’s comments is it really surprising that people are backing away?

I wouldn’t blame him. Why Chase being the next Saban or Spurrier when you can stay put and be the first Kiffin.
Show us who that is. It is all a crapshoot. We know Kiffin can handle the SEC and will always have a good offense.

Landry is getting fired himself if the next coach doesn’t work out so this shouldn’t be a concern

The LSU job will likely be open again in 3 years from what I can see. He will have another chance.

If I was big into the university he just turned down, I’d say he’s staying at OM too.
