He also got his arse handed to him by a Navy team that is well coached, but isn't on the same planet talent-wise, and a legitimately bad SMU team. Houston managed 16 vs SMU. Memphis lit them up wire to wire for 51 in Dallas and called the dogs off early and USF did the same a week later. SMU sucks.
I'm not saying that Herman doesn't deserve the job and that I wouldn't welcome him with open arms, but he also doesn't walk on water. He had a very legitimate playoff birth in his sights and he couldn't get his team ready for two overmatched opponents. So for all the big wins, there are still flaws.

If Jimbo takes the job, he'll be at LSU for a decade filled with elite recruiting and a great offense. I love that kind of stability.

I know he whipped two top 10 teams, one thst beat the ever living crap out of Fisher.
LSU can get by those type of games on talent alone
We need Herman to get over the hump. He beats far superior teams with less. Imagine him with equal or greater talent. Fisher doesn't exactly do this latent.

Saban lost to UAB while at LSU. Every great coach will lose a game or two on occasion. Herman could make LSU scary good.
