He was fired because they hated him…..the admin, the fans, even the team.

What part of “his players were negatively recruiting against him” do you not get? Influential boosters or not, he created the problems that got him fired, and they were right to get rid of him. He’s toxic AF.

bullshite? Here you go.

Current players are leaving, and recruits are looking elsewhere. Then, Del Conte learned that some players currently on the roster were doing negative recruiting, telling some not to come to UT. I

And to whatever extent anonymous sources impacted Texas recruiting as opposing programs used that reporting against the Longhorns, there are few things more destructive to a coaching staff than current players turning on the head coach who recruited them in their conversations with recruits.

It’s not the sexy hire but could be a very solid one. Serious question, are auburn fans wish they could have a do over on running Gus out?

I supported Gus longer than quite a few, but it was time. His upcoming recruiting class was underwhelming and so was the results on the field. Gus failed to adapt when he needed to. He ran a clean program and I certainly had some fun in JHS during his tenure. I hold no animus for Gus and would shake his hand and thank him for the good times at Auburn if I ever had the chance.

Absolutely not. Just because the next coach didn’t work out doesn’t mean it wasn’t past time for him to go.

Never won a single game on the road vs LSU, UGA, or Bama. Not once

Oh and you know, not putting any effort into recruiting the OL. He didn’t sign a true OT since like 2017 and he was a bust. He only signed one truly elite OL in his entire tenure (Braden Smith.) This was so bad for 4 years we played a converted DE as our starting LT then our next starting LT was also a converted DE until we signed the JUCO kids currently on roster.

It was WELL past time for Gus to go.
