Does Lane go to LSU in this scenario?

They need him to commit to something because now is the time to vet candidates.
They should do it anyway to cover their arse and have a plan in place just in case.

All good ADs always have a list of replacements for all the relevant sports.

He should leave before playoff, he knows he is not going to win anything this year or while at Ole Miss.

The people I know at OM are convinced he's staying. The people I know at Florida are convinced he's headed there. I don't have a good contact at LSU so I have no idea how they view the situation.
My bet would be that he sticks at OM, but I may well be viewing the tea leaves through red and blue glasses. I know that's a half-assed answer, but everyone I trust is convinced of different outcomes.
But I do have a really good idea that Jon Sumrall would be replacement option #1 at OM (assuming Joe Judge as interim doesn't make the national title game or something like that) and he would take the OM job. Timing is just the biggest factor there
Given your answer. To me it means that Kiffin hasnt made a decesion yet. And that lines up on how Kiffin's modus operandi is. If you look at his documentary he admits this and basically Landry was the deciding factor at the end. If its true about Ole Miss putting his feet to the fire. I think its a good move for all parties involved.

If he's made a decision, people high up at OM and Florida are not aware (of course the circle of people who know could be extremely tight). My educated guess is no final decision has been made and due diligence is being done on Florida and LSU.
He has a lot going for him at OM so it'll take a perfect situation to pry him away. I don't think Florida or LSU are "perfect" right now (both can be - but have issues right now).
Gun to head, he sits at OM until Alabama or Texas opens up. But this is a muddy as 2022 / Auburn was.

I would disagree in the fact that if he stays at Ole Miss, he is there for the long haul. NFL would be the only thing he leaves for. LSU and Florida are in the same tier of jobs as Alabama and Texas. I would argue that Alabama is a notch below.

Nobody knows this but Florida just had their week of thinking Kiffin was absolutely going there. If i had to guess, LSU is about to get their week. Things will settle down for egg bowl game week, then that weekend its going to pop. Who knows where he's going, idk but if i had to guess, im thinking he stays at OM. Sexton is just doing Sexton things.
Anyone know what other coaches are represented by Sexton that could possibly benefit from all of this?

At the beginning of the 2025 football season, at least 12 of 16 SEC HCs were Sexton clients. Kelly is a Armstrong client, Elko is a Dowdle client and I do not know who is the agent for Heupel and Beamer.
Hey, hey, hey do the Sexton shuffle (sung to the tune of the Rolling Stones song "Harlem Shuffle".)

I couldn’t picture him wanting to go to Alabama and compete with the insane standards Saban has set and his legacy there. I would think he’d want to settle in somewhere where he can leave his own mark.

The Top 7 jobs in the SEC are Alabama, Texass, Georgia, Florida, Oklahomo, LSU and Tennessee.
2 are presently open (LSU and UF).
4 are presently filled for the foreseeable future (UGa, Texass, Bama and Tennessee)
1 is trending in the direction of being filled for the foreseeable future (Oklahomo).
Now would be the time to make the move, if that is what is desired, because the opportunity may not present itself again for several years.

It would look bad on Lane from the outside, but it sounds like Ole Miss will force him out
Didn’t Skip kinda do the same thing with Saban?
Remember every year we heard the NFL rumors and it did get old and tiresome

What human being recruits kids and gets them to the playoffs and then just leaves during the night haha.

Not sure this is as big a deal as some make it out to be. CFB is overall in a fricked up place right now, and one component of that is the coaching carousel timing that’s moved way up for the early signing period in Dec.
I think you’re going to see more of it TBH.
