2000 Youngstown State (DC)
2001–2009 Youngstown State (HC) 60-44 overall record
2010–2012 Kent State (DC/CB)
2013 Purdue (DB)
2014–2015 Toledo (AHC/DC/S)
2016–present Iowa State (DC/S)

Iowa state
Year: Total defense, Scoring defense
2013: 105, 108
2014: 125, 115
2015: 107, 97
2016: 102, 88 (his 1st year)
2017: 43, 26
2018: 33, 37
2019: 45, 50
2020: 21, 25

Keep in mind, this is against the Big 12, against the likes of Riley, Gundy, & Herman fielding teams with pretty significant talent advantages at times.

2020
Team, Total offense (yds/gm), Scoring offense (pts/gm); Total yards against ISU, Points scored against ISU
*Oklahoma: 495, 43.4; 403, 28.5
Oklahoma St: 427, 30.2; 461, 24
Texas: 475, 42.7; 433, 23
Texas Tech: 429, 29.1; 270, 15
Oregon: 412, 31.3; 312, 17

*Averaged from reg season & Big 12 Championship

2019
Team, Total offense (yds/gm), Scoring offense (pts/gm); Total yards against ISU, Points scored against ISU
Oklahoma: 537, 42.1; 499, 42
Oklahoma St: 453, 32.5; 402, 34
Texas: 465, 35.2; 327, 21
Texas Tech: 474, 30.5; 407, 24
Baylor: 421.5, 33.6; 411, 23

2018
Team, Total offense (yds/gm), Scoring offense (pts/gm); Total yards against ISU, Points scored against ISU
Oklahoma: 570.3, 48.4; 519, 37
West Virginia: 512.3, 40.3; 152, 14
Oklahoma St: 500, 38.4; 415, 42
Texas Tech: 485.2, 37.3; 363, 31
Baylor: 459.1, 30; 505, 14
Texas: 411.3, 31.1; 405, 24

This guy has gone against some of the best offenses in the country with inferior talent and held them to below their season average the vast majority of the time. He deserves an interview.

Here's the big question though. What does Coach O think about utilizing the 3-3-5 more?

I know he likes his "attacking style", but I honestly think this is the future to slowing down these modern offenses.

Thanks for the analysis. ISU seems to always have shocking wins and well losses to people like USL. With that, people here might not like third and CHAVIS again, but scoring defense is what matters and LSU DBs have talent which would help him succeed very fast.
He is definitely worth the interview.

He looks like a great guy, but he's not elite and he is 60 years old. I'm thinking he won't be on the list.

Pretty much the only similarity I think he has with Pelini.

As the other Joe Heacock thread states, his 3-3-5 defenses the past couple years have caught alot of eyes.

Hell this tells me he's probably at the top of the list.
