Jim Leonhard needs to be the primary focus at this point.

Leonhard is the only one left on the board that I feel could actually restore this defense to what it's supposed to be.

He's another young, up and coming defensive mind that is arguably just as good if not better than Freeman. It would be a huge hire.

The difficulty would be luring him away from his alma mater, but we need to go all in. LSU, and Orgeron specifically, can't afford another mediocre DC.

I highly doubt this happens. It would be nice though.

Another guy who would string LSU along to get a massive raise from the job he really wants.

This has been discussed ad nauseum. I'm not saying you don't offer him and make him say no, but it's highly unlikely to happen. He already made his money in the NFL and he's coaching at his alma mater.

He should be on the 6-man list LSU needs to make. LSU needs to let their candidates know they are interested but they are not going to be played. Ash, Nielsen, Leonhard, Steele, and 2 more. Start the process and in a month you'll have a solid DC.

This is likely another waste of time. We need to move and get this wrapped up in the next 10 days.

He has that job and they tend not to give massive raises.

If it's someone like him, lsu would need to keep it entirely quiet until it's signed. They can't resist the you owe me a favor routine of giving FootballScoop or local radio the tip.

Love the idea. We don't have a roster to run a 3-4 though, right? We have 1 nose tackle. Ojulari and webb would be the olbs id assume in that front. Mason wants no part playing in a 3-4 front.

I’ve said for years that Leonhard should’ve been the replacement if/when Aranda left. It’s time to make him an offer her can’t refuse. I know, he’s Wisconsin alum, blah blah blah. Find a way.

I don’t think it would happen, but he’s the best DC in college football.
