Can you imagine this guy at LSU...no one would back talk this guy...and no one would want to get out of line and having to answer to him...

This guy would be a huge gain if Miles leaves...get on the phone O'Keefe...Sunday you will be shopping for a new head coach!

JDR: Hi, I'm Jack Del Rio, formerly of the Jacksonville Jaguars. How'd you like to come play for me at LSU?
recruit: <spooges in pants> Um, yeah, that sounds like a good idea.

I have a feeling he would have zero problems recruiting players that eventually wanted to go to the NFL.

I don't like the idea of a pro coach where we have to give up a recruiting year

God some of you people can be so dumb. Do you really think recruiting is some kind of fricking rocket science?

Recruiting isn't rocket science.

It would go like this-

Hi I was an all-american linebacker, played in the NFL for 7 years, coached Ray Lewis and the other Raven Linebackers in their Super Bowl run, I was then a DC for the Panthers and followed that up by being the head coach for the Jags and led them to multiple play off appearances.

I know what it is like to be a college and NFL player and I know what it takes to get to the NFL. I can help if that is your goal.

Would you like to play for me?

The Jags have been known for physical play and good defense over the past few years under JDR. Sound familiar?

I like it. I think JDR would be a good fit - he's the type of guy who would bring some much needed stability to the program, while being able to recruit against everyone in the SEC and holding his own. Don't forget that he's a damned good coach when it comes to X's and O's, as well.

JDR looks like he could still suit up and play. I remember when he played at USC; he was a very good player.

quote:

Drafted out of high school by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1981, Del Rio batted .340 while playing catcher on Southern California's baseball team in 1983 and ‘84. He was a teammate of current New York Yankees pitcher Randy Johnson and former major league slugger Mark McGwire.

He could also fill in for Paul Maineri in a pinch if he's needed.

In terms of recruiting, I can't imagine anyone more potentially effective than someone that left a NFL HC job while successful to coach in college.

That's a freaking perfect storm.

Bill Belichick hasn't recruited lately. You think he would have some problems attracting a couple of 5 stars if he took a job in CF?
