Being the head coach at USC, Texas, Bama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan carries much more prestige with it than being the head coach at LSU.

Bring the downvotes but IDGAF. I've said this before. It's not about the talent, the recruiting, the facilities, fan support etc. It's about the BRAND. LSU's brand as a school, Louisiana's as a state, and Baton Rouge's as a city, is not an attractive brand. Add to that a completely irrational fanbase and it makes it hard to attract top coaching talent. I truly wish it wasn't the case but there's a reason that for the last 15 years or so now, NO top/elite coach has WANTED to coach for LSU. We got Miles and then we had to settle for Orgeron (who's dream job was LSU but who NO ONE else wanted as a head coach). It just so happened that those 2 guys were lucky enough and surrounded themselves with enough good coordinators and ELITE talent that they were then able to win a national championship. USC is an elite brand - I don't blame Riley for choosing USC over LSU either. It's not just about recruiting and winning, it's about what the coaches want to say about THEMSELVES. Being the head coach at USC, Texas, Bama, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan carries much more prestige with it than being the head coach at LSU. I'm going to be so ticked if we end up with a vanilla coach like Matt Campbell or Stoops. THe only ones who can save this thing now and elevate LSU's brand are Aranda, Fickell, or Rhule. ANyone else and this coaching search (and Woodward's reputation) will be considered a failure.
