i dont mind chavis..at least we know he isn't going anywhere. i think he's capable of top 10 defenses that are great against the run. and with our talent we should have plenty of picks/break-ups. i know he's great at adjusting his scheme to fit personnel on the field. i also know he doesnt make half time adjustments, which IMO is the reason LSU beat Tenn for the SECC when Mauck came in. Had chavis made adjustments to mauk's style it would've been a different game. overall i like the hire. it's solid for sure, and he is capable of coaching a top defense. maybe we get lucky and the Hat asks him to maybe "consider" making a few "changes" during half-time...anyone think its possible??..

This doesn't do much to refute the notion that your hatred, and it is hatred, for Miles detracts from any credible criticism you might make about him and/or his coaching ability.

+1000 to that statement.

Yeah, Chavis and Tennessee really struggled with the spread this season. Florida had a grand total of 240 yards on offense.

That was before UF found a running back, before the Ole Miss loss and UF still won 30-6. Just saying...

However, I'm pleased we got a stable, experience, successful, proven, SEC-caliber Defensive Coordinator. There is nothing sensational, or "exciting" about this hire, nor was that a requirement.

It's kinda like hitting on that hot chick at the bar, but ending up taking her ugly friend home who's not great but not that bad in bed and she keeps calling you. That's how I feel anyway...

Maximus can be a bit of a drama queen. But right or wrong, he'll defend his assertions staunchly..thus the great name.

I was at that game, I remember the bigest play of the game was when mauk dropped back to pass, threw the ball to the tenn lb, he drops it. He holds on, tenn has a pick six in the fourth qtr. game set match, tenn. is playing for their second n.c.

Was chavis the d.c. when tenn won the n.c. and went undefeated?

That was Safety Julian Battle... that's the play that haunts me the most that no one ever talks about.

Walker and Tenuta depending on who you asked. I actually liked George Edwards as well. Chavis is just safe and you know what your getting which some think is great and others think is not so great.

That's one of the things that worries me. A coach with ambition to be a HC will work hard to show off what he has to be a big name. A coach who's looking to stick around will only do good enough not to get fired.

Walker: The chick who was never going home with you because another guy at the bar was going to make her his #1 girl and you were just going to put her in the harem.

Tenuta: The crazy chick who might have been a terrific frick for about 15 minutes but eventually rated to kill you and steal everything you own.

If it is being reported you can pretty much bet it has already been posted here, many times.

Thank you country vol.

"Chavis is meh. You know we won't be terrible, you know we won't be great either. Fits with Miles' scheme of losing at least 2 games every year no matter how talented you are."

Boy that maximus, if he only thought before he typed.

chavis did coach a defense that didn't have a L and won a n.c.. Even saban can't claim that one.

In the Olympics they throw out the high and low scores. Just saying.

45-5 from '95 to '98. Will that work?

I said this weeks ago we should go after Chavis. Thank goodness Les listened.

After this past agonizing year with our defense, how can anybody not be pleased with the Chavis hire? Good times ahead for LSU football.
