I believe Random gets a bad rap. He’s been right more times than not, and he’s texted me things that hasn’t been shared here, and was right.

He may be still pissed at us from signing Joe Burrow out from under him.

What are the possibilities that it’s a done deal and Freeman asked LSU to remain silent just to allow Freeman to break the news to Fickell personally rather than hear it as breaking news?

No Fickell takes the tenner job and Freeman is named head coach of the Bearcats.

Penn St, but Franklin would have to struggle for another two years for that to happen. Minnesota could open up if Row the Boat moves on. I think Fickell would strongly consider that one. Michigan St was a rebuild, but Minnesota is a program on pretty solid footing. Wisconsin would be an instant yea for him, but they have a successful alum as head coach with an alum at DC waiting to take over if he leaves. Maybe Indiana if their head coach gets hired away next year, but I don’t think Fickell goes lower than that.

Then there’s poor Nebraska. They will have to can Frost if this year goes as badly as last, but are they a good enough program to get Fickell after the way things have gone there? I don’t think so anymore. As good as Frost looked at UCF is eclipsed by how bad he’s been there. It looks like a coaching graveyard today.

It’s not Midwest, but how about Oklahoma? If Lincoln Riley went to the NFL, I have to believe Campbell and Fickell would be very high on their list of possible replacements. Another outside the box job I think he would consider would be VA Tech. I actually think Fickell could succeed there where Fuente has failed because he will put more energy into recruiting. That job will likely be open next off-season.

Personally, I don’t think any major college jobs will open up. This isn’t the year to pull a coach from college.

Urban might get hired.

I can’t speak to Nebraska.

Ferentz and Campbell pretty locked in.

UT or Michigan could, but I doubt Fickell would even consider the UT job. Michigan would be interesting if Harbaugh is sick of college and bails.

The rest of what I mentioned would be a season or two out.

He wouldn’t be offered Michigan and he wouldn’t take it regardless

Would you rather the Baylor job or the Vandy job?

This is a bit disingenuous. Clark Lea is a Vanderbilt alum. I’m sure he would prefer Vandy.

Vol's sources came directly from coaches and they cleaned houses on the staff.

All Fickell is going to say is, "You're making more than I am!"
