It's a gamble because he has not proven he can handle being a DC at ANY School

He was a DC at Western Kentucky back in the day.

On the other hand, you have not proven you are qualified to hire or judge the hiring of a college coach - so I'm sticking with Miles making a good decision

My bad, he was the DC at Western Kentucky for 2 yrs in 92 and 93........14 yrs ago. Why haven't any other smaller schools given him a shot by now. I'm not saying he would be a bust, but he is not proven and would be a gamble.

You sure? That's kinda what I got out of your post. Or at least it seemed like it was one of your suspicions

My point was that he might be one helluva a position coach but doesn't have what it takes to be a DC............If he had what it took to be a DC, it seems like someone would have given him a shot in the last 14 yrs, considering he already got his feet wet.

Didn't we get Mccarthy off of the UCLA staff last year? That could be the connection.
I don't think Mallory would be a bad move. At some point Les is going to have to promote a position coach to coordinator just to attract good position coaches.

Have any of you ever been promoted to a manager, director, or VP position? If you have, then someone gave you a chance to prove yourself. Same thing as in football coaching / leadership development. Maybe Mallory is ready - if he is, Les might give him a shot that he deserves and we get a great DC.

And that might be the case with him. And the results may be what you fear, and if so, we'll riot at the Football Ops Center and take it hostage until a new DC is named

Have you ever read The Peter Principle? If you have, you'll know that everyone is always promoted to their own personal level of incompetence. Promoting from within is a gamble. He may be a competent DC, he may not be. Regardless, I'd prefer for us to find out on some other team's time, and hire someone that we KNOW isn't incompetent.

I don't think Tenutas a slam dunk, another coach I know has put his name in the hat for DC. Its a great job and Les has a good set of names to choose from. Good job and good money.

Neuheisel is trying to keep Walker for the DC and get Norm Chow for the OC.

Is it the guy that got fired, that you told me was going to take a year off? Did he have a change of heart? That would be great if he was DC.

L.S.U. and the S.E.C. are not places to receive on the job training as a Defensive Coordinator. We are BIGGER than that now.

Help Wanted- Only EXPERIENCED Defensive Coordinators with proven success at a major college program need apply.....
