I was too young to exactly remember how the mike Archer hire went down. I know that Hodson , and the players wanted archer. But I don't know if the media was also behind it. Thoughts ?

Just like Les had the most media driven job security last year

Yeah my Pro O friends were giddy about the hire. Much of the influence was from the media with the "one of us " Campaign that jordy and Ponamsky shoved down their throats.

It's fascinating because from what I saw TD support for Coach O was 33% at its peak -- basically, fresh after Les' firing and when Coach O had some easy wins. There is a silent majority Walmart fanbase that should not be ignored.

Yeah I was floored at the social media gushing over the hire.
I can't believe the amount of "we should just give him a chance and it if doesn't work out we'll just try again" posts I saw. THATS NOT HOW THIS WORKS PEOPLE

I'm not sure what's worse
The sports media or social media on this hiring.

Here were the pro O crowd talking points:
He is one of us
He talks like us
He turned around LSU's season
Give the man a chance
He had a good binder
Herman lost to SMU, Navy and Memphis
Am I missing anything ?

Great point. I would say perhaps social media but the driver behind the social media campaign was the sports media for the most part.

Nit picked the shite out of them while failing to even address one criticism of Bebe. Some said well that was the past bullshite excuse

The media was 1 little small piece of the puzzle back then. Nothing like social media today, NOTHING.

I think the events of 2016 have shown us how dangerous the will of the masses can be...

Great point tigerdev. Hegellian Dialectic at its finest.

The only response I've seen has been anger and dismissal without engagement.
The arguments about him being "successful" as interim are incomprehensibly fatuous. Losing games against good teams like he did at USC and now LSU gets you fired, not hired. And even that ignores him being dominated by Vanderbilt level opposition at Ole Miss.

Louisiana people letting people dazzle them with bullshite is nothing new.
That's how you end up with a governor like Edwin Edwards.
Chronyism has been an epidemic in the great state of LA, and the people just eat the shite up.
When the university went away from such policies and hired Saban, that's when things were turned around.
I just hope that mentality is not back and here to stay. That's when the giant, known as LSU, goes back to taking a nap.
