Is it possible that not much has actually changed?

With the amount of conflicting reports going back and forth, I feel like we are basically where we’ve been this whole time. Nobody knows shite. For every “LSU offered Riley” report, there’s a “Other than preliminary inquiries, things never got super serious on the Riley front.” I’ll admit I was gut punched to wake up and see the Riley presser, but it appears everyone is melting and there has literally been zero consensus on any candidate from any media members in this entire search. We’ve literally went from the reported leading candidate being Tucker -> Lane -> Riley -> Aranda -> O Brien -> Stoops -> Riley -> and stoops again. A ton of supposed well connected people all disagree. That tells me no one really knows.

Most likely you're talking about the amount remaining on a buyout in 3-4 years.

Possible, sure, but we weren't exactly in a good spot 2 weeks ago either if that's true. If it's not Aranda we're not getting anyone who isn't a giant risk. The other realistic candidates either got other jobs or extensions.

I believe LSU has had discussions with Lincoln Riley.
I believe Scott Woodward threw out a number of $100 million over 8 years among the agents to see who was interested, and the names which have popped up are somewhat reflective of that.
I believe that he has a few coaches he's truly interested in, and he might be down to a couple of them, who may or may not still be coaching. It would make sense if Riley was one of them.
But I also believe that nobody on this board knows anything beyond what Verge or some of the others in the AD have been told to let out for whatever strategic purpose Woodward wanted served.
Because there are so few outlets of information about this search, people use this board as some sort of oracle for the search when it's anything but that.
