Is Helton a better head coach for USC than Orgeron was?

Ed O had success there, and unlike Helton, had previous major college head coaching experience at Ole Miss.

It seems like there is some support now for giving Helton the permanent HC job, something they would not do with Orgeron not so many years ago.

Why would Helton be given a chance when Orgeron was not-- but then, Pat Haden hasn't exactly handled that head coach hiring situation very well.

Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

He won't but Ed O being a big cajun brute works against him outside of the south.

Helton isn't very good. He almost blew that game for us today. Ill take coach O over him any day.

No he's not. So far he's lost to the same team O did.

I loved Coach O, and I'm warming to Helton. There's so much talent at SC that any decent tactician could win there. Unless it's a home run "big name" hire, I'd stick with Helton.*

*If he loses to ucla, fire him immediately.

I forgot, they fired Bowden a few weeks into that 08 (might have been shortly after the Bama loss).

I don't know anything about the inner circles at USC and who has all the power, but is it not safe to say that Hayden no longer pulls the strings with regards to coaching hires?
