No, that was Bill Clay, and the fans reared up and forced Miles to go in another direction.

Which is exactly why I laugh whenever someone asserts that Miles' would "definitely" of his own volition make a change after this season.

I think the top qualities any candidate MUST possess are:

1) fire/excitement on the sidelines - somebody besides Moffit has to fire this team up, Les just paces talking into his headset, I haven't seen him really show too much emotion on the sideline and the entire team plays with no emotion, no passion, no "fire-in-the-belly." Coincidence? Lack of hunger after winning the MNC? Or a reflection of the coach in his team. Pellini was vocal and we need that role re-filled.

2) coaching - time and time again I see the likes of Richt, Meyer, Saban, etc pull players over on the sideline and actually provide instruction during the course of the game. Meanwhile, Les only paces. We surely need someone to fill this role.

It goes without saying that we need someone who employs an attacking scheme. No more "read and react." Attack the other team and put them on their heels rather than simply waiting to be placed on your own heels. You don't have to aggressively blitz necessarily but attack. Also, in this day and age you MUST be able to disguise what you are doing. If the offense has no pre-snap idea whether you are in man, zone, blitz, etc that is a GOOD THING.

I would prefer a candidate who has demonstrated success against the spread in the past. This is mostly why I am partial to Tyrone Nix. Look at some of his past success against the Gators and you too will covet this young DC. BUT, it WILL be tough to lure him away from Ole Miss after only one season.

Clay is now at Samford and their defense did just as good of a job stopping Ole Miss' offense as Mallveto's defense did

He'd be a great LB coach if Peveto gets fired...not so sure about DC.

Why leave the NFL as a position coach to go to college to be a position coach?

Possibly more money if LSU is willing to give it up? But I seriously doubt he'd leave anyway. Hes already turned down DC with Georgia/Florida, why would he come to LSU?
