Obvious Alleva connection. Deep roots in SEC. I know he's elder and possible health concerns. Maybe viewed as a 5 yr window with Cutcliffe with potential possibilities of grooming Aranda for HC in future with Cutcliffe grooming an offensive mind. We could do a lot worse than this, on field i think he'll be a great coach but just a shorter window.

yes, Cut has failed in the sec once before and he is old as dirt. He would be horrible at a high pressure place like LSU

kind of naive to call his ole miss tenure a "failure". Dude did good things there and was like 4-2 w/ bowls.

I like Cut, but I think he's too old at this point. LSU needs a young coach

He's got a top 3-5 Pro QB recruit lined up, he'd do well here for a short time with Aranda and LSU Talent.

failed maybe a little rough. since if Ed O can respond and lead us to like 7-1 i wouldn't throw a fit if we hired him.

Cut is just really old and fits better at a lower pressure job than LSU. I think he also had medical issues a while back. The guy belongs at Duke.

it would be O long before Cutcliff. There are probably only 3 or 4 people and if we fail at getting one of them, then O will probably be hired.

Cutcliffe is 3 times the coach Coach O is and it isn't even a debate.

We don't want him. TAF would never approve. He's way below our level

Next to LSU, Duke is my team. Cutcliffe does more with less than any other coach in the country.

My wife went to Duke, so I keep up with Duke athletics a pretty good bit. Cut seems really happy in Durham and is beloved by everyone there. He's had medical issues in the past and Duke is about as low-stress of a job as one can find in a Power 5 conference. With what he has done for that program he has enough goodwill to survive several bad season and ride out his career. I don't think it will come to that, but I don't see him leaving for really another job because I think he likely retires within the next 5 years.

TL;DR version: Not sure if LSU is interested, but I doubt he leaves Duke for any school at this point.

He is obviously not the first or even top 5 choice. BUT he would not be an awful pick if he ultimately landed here. I think he would be a good stop gap hire but not a home run.
