Ohio states qb play after Herman left last year wasn't very good.

Not necessarily the player, could be the plays being called.

I think Mullen and Herman are both very talented OCs, but only one of them has proven he can manage a program. Doing what he has done at MSU has been miraculous. Herman still might have a higher ceiling, we just don't know for sure, but it seems that way.

That mess of a reply you gave me... i don't see a coherent point in there anywhere.

You may not agree, but his assertion that Herman has done in multiple places and with varying skill sets what Mullen did in FL with All-Americans was pretty easy to understand.

I believe I read somewhere that Herman was OC at Iowa state when they beat Ok State in 2009

I think people are overblowing Herman's potential, but he is a good coach. He's benefited a ton from some great local talent, but he has a promising future.

Could be like Chris Petersen (doing pretty well at UW) after taking over there or Dan Hawkins (failed horribly at Colorado).

The problem with a school like Houston is that Briles built them up into a tough team, he did well at Baylor. Sumlin came in and continued on that and has done mediocre at A&M, and the guy after got fired and now there is Herman.

Neither of those guys was as good as Herman in his first year, but Herman may not be as good as some believe just because of 2 years, but he could be the next Meyer too.

Is Dak Prescott the product of Dan Mullen or is Dan Mullen the product of Dak?

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be as much of a smartass as it appears, I legitimately don't understand his post.

Greg Ward isn't that good. He has a pretty lousy arm, and he still looks like the converted WR that he is. He's excelling almost solely because of the system. Also, Herman has a long track record of great offenses that didn't have Greg Ward at quarterback.

Whatever the answer is, it doesn't degrade Mullen to me because he turned someone LSU turned down into a star. Whether he's recruiting the right guys, out scheming opponents, or both, he was great with Dak and Tebow.

The common denominator being Meyer, the systems are similar...Mullen is a known SEC Commodity, It would be intriguing to see what Mullen could accomplish with the recruiting base and a first rate DC ie, Aranda...Herman has obviously got the most out of less talent..I suppose, the same could be said of Herman with the recruiting base...I just wonder whether or not those responsible for the hire will discount Herman due the lack of major conference HC experience.

What has he done without them?

I don't think he was turned down at LSU, just wanted to use him as a TE, since the position is so critical to our offense and all...

Would it be fair to say that the OSU QB Trio, Ward,Jr, Tebow, and Prescott are all exceptional system QB's ...whose to say Herman wont have a dry spell after Ward leaves?

Barrick Nealy? Chase Clement? Austen Arnaud? All of these guys are QBS under Herman and all of them were very successful under him (breaking records and being conference or bowl MVPs)

It doesn't matter because he recruited them, that's my point. A part of a coach's job is obviously to get the right guys, and he will be even better at doing that at LSU than MSU.

He can't recruit against Ole Miss in his own state, much less the rest of the west that plucks the best MS players. Even with inferior talent he did great in the west... did you watch football in 2014?

They aren't the only qbs he has recruited but they are the only ones you can mention that have done well. I've listed 7 total qbs that have done great under Herman.

Well Herman still hasn't managed a big program, a HC is more than QB whisperer.

A big factor in les miles being fired is because he couldn't develop a QB. A reason people love jimbo is because he has put 5 qbs in the 1st round.

Try again.
