Nice

Yeah the read option with Lee in the game was one play that could summarize GC as an OC.

I could see where someone might be "lukewarm" with this hire, but there is absolutely no legitimate reason to be "incredibly disappointed" with the hire of Steve Kragthorpe. It fits in many ways. Certainly not a sexy hire, but not even close to a disappointing hire.

Agreed.

Must be running the O with no QB.

There's a difference between a spread passing system and the spread option. Think Arkansas under Petrino. I believe they run a lot of single back sets unless it is short yardage or run the clock time. The TE is pretty much just a big slot receiver in this offense. You also won't see as many QB runs.

I really like the philosophy of running fewer formations. Ever since the clock rules changes a few years ago, the games have fewer snaps and possessions. A multiple formation offense like Crowton's only works if you can dominate the ball. That worked with Flynn at QB and a top notch O-Line, but hasn't nearly as weel for the last 3 years. If you don't get a lot of snaps, then the offense becomes very predictable, because you only get to show a limited number of plays in each of your many formations.

FWIW, this may really work in Mett's favor. If he has a great Spring and Summer, he could definitely get the starting QB job. He is made for this kind of offense.

Hmm the 4 WO set seems to go against CLM philosophy of power pro set.

let's hope that it's Miles' offense and the Krag is coordinating it, if you will...

I tend to agree w the poster who talk bout the clock changes and how you need more snaps, with our talent at skill positions this could be a very explosive O

shepp wide open ! The YAC yards will be awesome

Not a footbaw coach or anything, but didn't ole Jimbo run a lot of 3-4 WR sets to spread the ball amongst Early, Bowe, and Davis?

He says an excellent hire and that fans better get used to four wideouts, TE and one RB because that is what he runs....lots of deception and lots of wide open receivers. His philosophy is to run everything your do from about 5 or 6 bases.

Not me. I expect him to excel. But, I'll certainly withhold judgment until there is a product to judge.

im incredibly disappointed because its lukewarm. were LSU for christs sake, a consensus top 5 team for next year with an embarrassment of talent all over the field, and we bring in a guy who has never put up anything but average numbers.

maybe he just needs the right setting for everything that he can do to click. im hopeful, but only because im telling myself to be.

Yup. He'll run 4 WRs, with a TE in the game and exclude the QB. Would fit in perfect with how Crowton ran this offense. That offensive philosophy would be brilliant! Spread them out and take the QB out the game...

If that's true, I'm thrilled. One of the biggest problems with Crowton is all of the substitutions leading to confusion. Stop running an offense out of 100 sets.

i understand your trepidation, but this is obviously somebody miles wanted to work with since his name started popping up last year when talk of gc being replaced surfaced. this is the one thing that makes me think this will work.

All you guys whining about multiple sets, see Sean Payton.

I'm all about this hire and a bit of a simplification, simply because of our overwhelming talent. Payton does it with the Saints because you have to in the NFL. We don't.
