In regards to Kiffin anyone think it’s strange:

1. Ole Miss has the only AD that has publicly announced anything regarding Kiffin.
2. There is a specific date that a decision will be made.
3. It aligns with Kiffin’s policy of not talking about contracts until the season is over (by one day).
4. The tweet’s first line is:
Coach Kiffin and I have had many pointed and positive conversations regarding his future at Ole Miss
5. Only 3 people were present in the meeting Lane, Ole Miss AD and Chancellor. So if anything was signed those 3 are the only ones who would know.
6. Lane went to a his son’s game in Oxford immediately after the meeting and was letting everyone know his public location.
7. Lane would be making a decision prior to the playoffs and would not be able to coach his team in the playoffs if he’s leaving.

No one knows anything more than the 3 guys who were in the meeting with Kiffin today.
And they are the only ones who have publicly disclosed anything that hasn’t been complete speculation up to this point.
All I know is someone is getting played.

Here’s my question, what does OM or Kiffin gain from not squashing everything and announcing he’s committed to OM going forward if he’s staying? Why would they want this circus to continue?

Why would he need to wait to announce he’s coaching his own team. Give it up dude and have a drink…..witz

No. It's not a random date

Why would that be strange
quote:again not strange. With the timing of the portal and all that other shite. It's tricky.

It's not like the NFL where the season ends, everyone starts resetting.

Dude if he is willing to go through all of this you can have him

Saved for later.

Do you think it's strange that instead of clearing the air about the entire thing, thus shifting the focus of the team towards its goals THIS SEASON, they instead opted to continue this clusterfrick for another week?

I just think it’s strange.
Especially point #7.
I’m completely open to being persuaded as to why LSU thinks he’s a done deal. Surely LSU fans can provide some concrete facts that I may not be aware of.

I think you are in the beginning stages of acceptance.

Answer the question why they wouldn't just end the talks?
Posted on 11/22/25 at 12:28 am to ManBearSharkReb
You don't need to be persuaded.
If you think it was in the best interest to hide from the players that Lane is staying, you have bigger problems.

More strange is having a Netflix show done and saying you love it there to not commit to said place you love.
This is the second time he’s put this fanbase and program in this situation.
If he blows off LSU and Florida to stay he will likely never get a higher offer in college football. At the same time he is pissing off his own fan base which will still be awkward if he stays.

It’d be quite the stretch because you’d want current players and staff to know he’s not leaving and it would be almost impossible to prevent a leak with a roster full of 18-22 year olds knowing. But it would be a troll for the ages to stick it to a couple of rivals.

1. Kiffin is employed by Ole Miss, so the OM AD is the only that technically can announce anything formally
2. The date is after the Egg Bowl, which Lane wants to coach in. All suitors were fine with this.
3. ok
4. The AD wasn't going to come out and say the mtg went terribly, I think "pointed" in that sentence carries the most weight.
5. If you are the AD and you know Lane signed the extension and you let the frustration and distractions that will be all over Oxford next week potentially derail a playoff run, you are getting fired. If an extension was filed, the OM brass would've been at a podium or at least dropped a formal press release. OM gains nothing by delaying an announcement if he had signed the extension.
6. ok
7. He knows that and has already addressed it in general at a press conference earlier this week.
Literally none of the items you listed are strange.

Just end it all.
He has nothing to gain by continuing this, it's got to be a major issue within your fanbase, boosters, and team with little to no benefit.

The stakes are too high for trolling. The trolling angle is some small minded message board shite. Y’all know better than this. Not single person who knows what the frick they’re doing would allow the progrum to continue in such uncertainty IF they knew the coach was staying.
