In 10 years how much will the top paid NCAA coach make?

Too much. It's already ridiculous how much some of these coaches make. IF its all incentive based, then its a whole other story, but guaranteeing coaches $15-$20+ Million is utterly stupid.

saban was making 1.2 mil in 2000 right? and only 9 years later, Mack Brown is at 5mil?

The real question is how did it escalate so quick? Alabama buying $abun in yet another attempt at buying championships (and this time it looks as though its going to work) have upped the ante. It is now a coaching arms race. I hope LSU will keep up. Not just in salary but their approach in who they go after. It should no longer be frowned upon to go after another major D1 coach like a Bob Stoops or a Urban Meyer (just examples). Offer em 7-8 mil and make them tell you no if nothing else to make the other school match it.

It bumped up in a big way thanks to Weiss, Carroll, and a few others that got huge money to stay at their current schools. Saban set the public school mark in 2007 when he took over at Bama, but contracts are set up to escalate based on NCs. That was the biggest mistake, and you can heavily thank the Agent Sexton for all this crap. He played schools back and forth for money and basically got 1/3 of NCAA FBS coaches raises.

It will depend on howm much the schools are bringing in.

It is a business -
I am brought in as a coach for X amount
->I revitalize the program (alumni, fans etc...)
-> win bowls
-> fill up seats
-> sell merchandise
-> subsequently good PR for school
-> increase revenue (often in tens of millions of dollars)
I don't think there is anything wrong in paying a few million or guaranteeing several million for such a person.
Carly Fiorina brought into to revitalize HP or Brian Kelly to ND -> its the same thing.
