I know right, like who would want to be paid millions and then have a chance at a head coaching job.

Coaches hate money and upward mobility.

The delay is due to the large response, not the lack of it. If Orgeron wanted to move quickly, there are PLENTY of highly-respected lower level DCs at G5 schools that could have been hired on Day 1 and would've been considered excellent hires, like David Reeves at UAB.

That wasn't done, which tells me there are plenty of options and they feel there is no need to rush.

Everyone knows LSU paid its last DC 2.5 a year. Yeah, people line up for that kind of money.

the timing makes this different than normal coaching changes.

A. the new early signing period also has vast majority of coaching moves complete by early december. Mainly because recruits want to know who they’re going to be playing for.

B. you also typically a least know that your staff is being poached well before mid January. So the best “available” candidates may hold out until you make a hire.

Us not even finding out until last week put us in somewhat of a bind. Any coach that was planning (or was willing to) on making a move has pretty much made one already.
So now you have to go after guys that have either just signed a deal, or really didn’t have intentions on leaving their current gigs.

The timing is not causing a problem. That’s ridiculous.

Charlie is NOT a top coach anymore.
