Gundy is a lifer at OK St. There was a chance to get him a few years ago but that window is passed.

I live near Stillwater and I've got family on campus, both faculty and athletic department. Gundy is basically a god in Stilly and he will retire there.
If they were going to let him walk, it was going to happen right after T. Boone passed away... but instead they doubled down on him.
Is Gundy the caliber of coach who could lead a monster P5 program like LSU? I don't know, but the man is damn sure a good football coach. He basically recruits the leftovers from Texas and Oklahoma with a few blue chips here and there, and consistently runs with the big boys with what he has.
If somehow the smoke and mirrors show led to Gundy ending up at LSU, I'd be wholly surprised but not remotely disappointed.
