If I'm hiring first thing I look at is loyalty to others. If your new hire has been loyal to staff, kids, school etc he will have made in roads for recruiting and building relationships.

I think you take a look at the style and personality of the candidates and how it fits in with your specific culture. The right coach for Kentucky and the right coach for LSU are two totally different things.

The most important thing is winning. After that everything is just icing on the cake.

This is how you end up with Andy Reid and not Nick Saban

How good is Saban? Is he able to take less talent and beat better talent? Or does he have to have superior talent? How bad is Reid? Is he horrible because of two years? It depends on your definition of what a good coach is. To me the best two CFB coaches are Chris Ault and Larry Keheres.

Yeah I never bought into that at all. I'd have much rathered 3 years of Steve Spurrier @ LSU in the late 80's and have him bail to UF than what we got with Mike Archer who would have stayed at LSU forever.

If you're Kentucky at this point you need someone who has shown they can win, simply to get the fans interested in the program again. It's the most apathetic I've ever seen it, and I had season tickets during the Curry era.

If our AD hires an unknown quantity and doesn't give the fan base a reason to have hope and return, it will be a failure, again.
