This. Alleva isn't selecting anybody for football coach.

Has Hudspeth even won that medicore conference ULLLL plays in? His best team barely beat a below average Tulane team last yr in the powerful N.O. Bowl. A better coach by what criteria? CLM has won the SEC. ClM has won the NC. ClM went 13-0 in the regular season/SECCG in the toughest division in the toughest conference in the country. Look at his out of the conference wins against Oregon, Wisconsin, at the time A&M. etc etc etc. Repeat: what has Hudspeth won?

Announce day one of the search that it will be a solid but not a splash hire to get the melt out of the way.

Alleva hires Cutcliffe (who he hired at Duke) who coaches the offense and the QB's and is able to retain Chavis and his staff on D due to their friendship from Tennessee. He would have to keep Frank Wilson though which I think he could and we roll into next year in pretty good shape. Of course Miles is not going to Michigan and we will win a lot of games with horrific quarterback play the next 2 years.

Less was 28-21 before being hired here.

I really like Cutcliffe. But didn't he have some kind of heart / health problems? If so, no chance.
And for the people that don't trust Alleva (me included), if you think that he is the one pulling the trigger you are crazy. The big donors are the big donors or a reason. They spend money wisely. They will do the research/calls, and alleva will approve whomever they recommend. he has input, don't get me wrong, but there are people higher up the food chain than him. don't freak out about alleva.

I know he had some issues but I thought it would be a scenario that made sense for the next 2-4 years.

Gary Patterson
Rich Rodriguez
Jim Mora, Jr.
Kirby Smart
Mike Gundy
Mark Dantonio
Todd Graham
That's the list. If you're not gonna get an NFL coach (very unlikely), you have to grab one of these names.

Harbaugh or the Oregon Coach. We need to start being able to recruit GREAT QB's and need to be able to go 5 wide if need be. Look how good AU did against bama when they picked up the tempo. I know our run game is awesome but dude if we went quick tempo and LF in a slot pass. ROLLING!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not agreeing with his logic. But Bear won instantly. He was 6-2 in his only year at Maryland. And really good at Kentucky. It is possible to be really good right off the bat. a number of coaches have proven that. Just 2 cents.
