Saban is the GoaT CFB coach. He's probably worth more than we're already paying him.

Does it then follow that if he doesn't win championships but makes less money the fan base would be OK with that? That's ridiculous. Have you ever heard a fan say "Well, we were 7-5 this year but we're only paying the coach 3 million so I guess that's a pretty good deal."

I got your point. It was about fanbase expectations given a salary.
That said, Bama fans would be unrealistic if Saban was performing the same for $1.1m. They expect a never ending run of (sometimes fake) NCs.

Problem is as a sidewalk fan, you have 0 expertise in X and Os, 0 knowledge of what goes on behind the scenes with recruiting, injuries, academic issues, disciplinary issues, or personal issues affecting players. You aren't equipped to be able to make hiring and firing decisions and shouldn't be granted nearly as much power as you think.

This isn’t even debatable. Saban isn’t the problem.. The issue is that there are a bunch of P5 ADs with too much money on their hands running around with their damn hair on fire and driving the market up for guys who definitely AREN’T worth it.

See thats where you're wrong. All too often coaches are judged on stricltly win and losses. Saban has alabama as a national brand now. There are bama bandwagoners everywhere. They make that measly 10 mill back easily on merchandise sales. So of course hes worth it, even without the championships at the moment
