Another MAJOR problem was communication and lack of basic fundamentals. Our guys couldn't even play man-to-man at times. You are taught to NEVER leave your man unless the QB has clearly passed the LOS. If your man goes and takes a shite, you better be there to catch it.
When we would play man, there would still be guys streaking wide open across the middle of the field. Some of this had to do with communication, some had to do with our guys just didn't have a clue or just didn't care. Frustrating to say the least.

Saban is a great defensive coach because his defenses are complex and "multiple". To refer to it as a "blitz happy" or "man to man" pressure defense is ignorant.
More importantly, Saban disguises shite. Pelini and Malveto don't disguise anything and are easy to read.

What about the man to man we played on 3rd and long against Georgia and gave up the big play? Blitzing on that down was downright idiotic.
Arky 4th and 15? 3 or 4 man rush? yeah.

EVERY single team plays zone. Not necessarily on every play, but you HAVE to be able to do it.
NO shite?!? I haven't grown up watching and playing football.

Once again no shite, he runs combo coverages often. However one of Saban's trade marks is he is known for leaving his CB's on islands while sending the house.

I live in SC, 20 min away from Clemson I know what VK does better than anyone on this board.
...says the guy who originally was a proponent of Koening, and even posted links showing how great and aggressive Koening's defense is:

Living about 20 min away from Clemson I can tell you this would be a GREAT hire. He's always got great D's with decent talent at Clemson. All the Clemson fans around here love him, wish he would of stayed. I'll look into some local media outlets to see if I can find anything.
Here's some clips of some Clemson D under him.

Was happy when he though VK was a done deal...
quote:
Yeah but I'm out. Great hire tonight
and stated that Koening was TOO AGRESSIVE for Clemson
quote:
Besides I've heard it the other way around up here. VK too aggressive for Dabo. Spartanburg newspapers don't know shite....
only to later change his mind after discussing on message boards with Clemson fans.

When all the rumors started Thursday night (I think) about us getting VK I was thinking it would be a great hire. You can go back and look at my post if you don't believe this. However I've been asking Clemson fans up here in SC if this is a good hire the responses I got were "NO", "Hell no, he sucks" stuff like that. The best response I got was "He's ok" Now every one on here is saying that he doesn't blitz much, DB's far off the ball. I think I'm gonna jump off the VK band wagon, and on the Tenuta.
You are a joke.
You change your mind more than a 12 year old girl and you certainly don't know anything about football.
Sit back, shut up, and watch the hire occur. If we land Chavis, Koening, Tenuta, or another proven DC, be very happy.

Greg Robinson and Paul Rhoads being amoung the other proven DC's.

and any of the Brother Oliver/ Kines/ Joe Lee group. Have I forgotten any JP Sports SEC DC all stars?

I clicked on that thread and i did like this little nugget of info he provided to some poor fool:

Well jackass, idk how many fans sit around and make highlight videos of shitty plays.

I also came out and changed my mind after talking to Clemson fans in my area, and watching more Clemson D clips.
That was what was heard early, however it's been reported by all local media outlets he wasn't aggressive enough. Not just the first newspaper that wrote the story I said was bullshite.
Discussing with fans on if their DC was worth a shite is pretty good way to get a vibe on how good he is. I also went back and watch the SC V Clemson game and saw that LSU's D played much better against USC than Clemson's.

Still alive (age 74), of course the rantards would ask how good of a recruiter is he.

Quite simply, you are a joke.
Quit embarrassing yourself and become a spectator.
You can have your opinion that the most agressive approach is the best. But, be aware that it's very simple minded...and has been an approach that teams without a lot of talent have used for years because they need to take risks.
I will move forward hoping that we land a DC who will shore up the fundamentals of our defensive backfield and who can teach and implement multiple coverages effectively. And hopefully, that guy will also take advantage of our athleticism when down and distance dictates.

Yes because I said we need to line up every play and play man and rush 8. Not to mention get rid of all zone plays from the play book.

You've berated two very good DCs who have been very effective because they are not agressive enough.
You've placed more importance on agressiveness than effectiveness which is so damn illogical it's not even worth discussing.
You know less about football than you think you do.

Please show me where I said I would rather have Malveto than the experienced, and sound defense of John Chavis.
Please show me where I've said I don't think VK runs a top 15 defense, and would be an upgrade.

I'm placing getting pressure on the QB, and confusing him by disguising coverages and blitz packages. Which in turn forces bad throws, and INT's

There is nothing inherently wrong with zone coverage. The Patriots use zone and come after a QB. The Tampa 2 is a zone system that gets pressure on the QB.
The problem is that LSU's zone scheme(and recruiting/personnel choices) doesn't place enough emphasis on getting pressure on the QB.
Our DLine hasn't gotten a pass rush, yet we almost never adjust and send blitzes to increase pressure or create confusion on the OLine. Even when we do blitz its never disguised and Cutrera spends tho whole play trying to pancake an OG.
That's the problem with our zone scheme. Its soft. Its not a man=pressure zone=no pressure dichotomy.

Jesus fricking Chirst I never said if you play zone you don't blitz. Chavis is given a lot of credit for developing the zone blitz.
