If the new HC is currently in the playoff picture...

The announcement might not come until after this weekend.
I don't think it's unreasonable to let the guy give his current players the respect of holding the announcement until after Championship weekend. They've busted their arse to get to this point.
Aranda, Fickell, Kelly, Cristobal would all be in play in this scenario. Hell, even Gundy although there's no way it's him (I hope).
Once the playoff is locked in, then you make the announcement and figure out if he coaches his team or leaves.
