I would hit up Briles and Applewhite because they are available NOW. We can't afford to wait until after the playoff for this to shake out. We need to get the offensive recruiting in order.
ETA- If Kiffin is interested and isn't going to Houston, this puts pressure on him to go ahead and leave after the Iron Bowl.

I don't like Briles, but taking a step down is how these guys rehab their images. That's what Kiffin did. It is what Sark is doing now.
I think you TALK to Briles now because he's available. It puts pressure on anyone else to move now rather than wait.
